Hi MacB, Thadd, Lampard 10,

Currently in my Dubai office, therefore just spotted this thread for the 1st time. Add me to the list of support to a Buriram Forum, or for that matter a good idea from Lampard 10 re a Buriram/Surin forum.

I also know a couple of near neighbours of mine who are also members of Thaivisa and I know they would also be interested, I will draw their attention to this thread when I arrive home next week.

I live between Prakhon Chai and Prasat and in a 5 km radius there are quite a few of us, the local police refer to our area as Farang City. I'm sure a local "Buriram Branch" of Thaivisa would attract a few more of these guys.

Just my pennyworth!! :o

Count me also as I finish our house in ban kan gna about seven km east of phrakon chai. Where you ray?

Hi Jimbabe,

Sorry for the delay in my reply, currently in my Dubai office and this evening is my first decent look at TVisa for over a week. My village is called Sankun, which is not really on any map, as my friend Thaddeus would say, travel roughly half way between Prakhon Chai to Prasat and take a left!!!

I will be home 17th and although I have a few commitments for a few days on arrival, PM me with a contact number if you are home yourself and we will meet up for sure, introduce you to some of the local gang. Look forward to meeting you.

Yo also to Mac, been catching up with the pic's of the queen and babe, brill. Also only just picked up on the Jazzbo thread, that was very fortunate I never spotted it earlier, I think Jazzbo needs an ASBO from Isaan forum until he apologises to you, well done the Mod's. Sorry to comment on this, but I could not stay quiet on such an uneccessary and unwarranted verbal attack on one of the nicest guys I have ever met, except me of course!!!!

Hope to see all you guys soon........RayBan....... :D

Thanks Rayban for your verbal support:

An unforunate Topic which shocked me I have sent you an email thanks pal . If no one know's Rayban he is a great and genuine guy.

HeyRay, Thanks for the come back. If you were going to Ludos from pc where you turn left off 224 (main hyway) you would turn right instead and go about 5km to my muuban, We have some swedes and coupla britts. thais may have to change story about never being colonized if this keeps up! Ill be in los from feb 22 to ap4. There will be plenty time to meet up, maybe at Ludos. While Im here, does anyone think im better to bring UV -charcol filter from US ( 250 usd 8 lit hr) or buy in los?

Hi Jimbabe,

I think I know exactly where you are, I have an Austrian friend who lives in your vicinity, you may have met him already, his name is Helmut and must be close to you. In fact if you are the American guy who is building the house at the “T” junction at Lavia, then I have seen your house from the road.

I will be home in Buriram on 17th and I have just pm’d you my mobile number. I look forward to meeting up with you soon.

Reference your UV charcoal filter!!, if you are referring to a water type filter, well they are around 10 to 12,000 baht for a full size (50kg) filter with catalyst. The recharge (every couple of years) is around 6000 baht. Hope this helps…….

Hi All

Now I know I had it on good authority from the Boss Lady who by her own admission is never wrong, :D but I happened to be visiting Buriram so I thought I would check out the situation for myself.

Sure enough on the Korat road a kilometer or so out of town (next to Esso station) they are preparing the groundwork for a ginormous (judging by the area under development) Big C superstore.

However don't hold your breath I reckon it's a least a year away from selling mun farang!

Macb,

Update on the costs for my daughter to come into this beautiful world.

I keep getting more bills from various doctors and specialists that I do not even recall seeing. It has now topped $30,000.00 USD.

Again, thankful that I have full insurance. I guess we have to pay for all the people over here on the Goverment teet that do not pay into insurance or have jobs.

I hope that your daughter is doing great. Mine is wonderful so far.

My dog, (her dog now I think) is never more than 3 feet from her day and night.

Cheers

Mike in Seattle

Hey Macb,

It has bee about 45 days and my wife is pretty much back to normal. It varies woman to woman they say. She still has some pain if she stretches too far or picks something up that is too heavy since the muscle tissue is not fully connected I am guessing. She has been on the go non stop for the last two or three weeks driving and shopping so I would think that she is recovered.

Tough on them though.

Thanks for that Mike:

Bee is doing pretty good sometimes a bit moody and snappy but she says lack of sleep, is your baby sleeping in Air con conditions at all seems to be a big issue over here. In the house its 34 c in the evening but cannot put Air-con on, and the wife sleeps downstairs at the moment? The baby has a cold at the moment well stuffy nose I think its because to hot, but cant tell them that.

Dear Macb

Congratulations !

My little girl,5 weeks old, sleeping in Air con everynight. I noticed that during the day she will sleep well if I have air con on as well. We always keep it on at 25-26c to keep her feel comfy. I think the nurse said keep it at 25c will be fine as we did. In England for my eldest daughter we kept it on at 22c indoor.

Hey Macb,

It is too cold here for AC. My daughter does have a stuffed up nose though. I asked the doctor about it and he said that it is quite normal for the first two months or so since they only really breath through their nose. When they start breathing more through their mouth they become less congested for some odd reason. I found that the higher the humidity the easier she seems to sleep though. Over here at present that is only 70% or so. If I leave all the windows closed with the forced air heating the air gets fairly dry and she does not like it. An open window does the trick though. She tends to sleep quieter during the day though for some reason. Maybe it is because that is when I am there sleeping as well :o

I told my wife to sleep when Mali does so she gets enough rest. She always thinks that it is time to clean the house and cook when Mali naps and then she is grumpy later because she is tired. I have found that everyone of her friends has more advice on baby care than any other subject thus far. It really amazes me the advice she gets from friends that have no children. Everybody is an expert as you will soon find out, especially Thai women.

Good luck and tell Bee to get some sleep as the house will still be there when she is in better shape.

Cheers

Well this morning all the elders from the village as well as our family came along for the New baby Ceremony!!!

Lots of chanting lighting candles and an old lady who used to be the village mid-wife cut a strand of hair not all the head shaved phewwwwwwwwww.

I then had to take my daughters hair which was laid on a banana leaf and float it in the bore/pond at the same time wishing her good-luck.

Food and beer flowed and loa khow.

Heres pics of the gathering

Yo Mac,

Good to see you and Ron last Friday & Saturday. Sanan and I spent most of yesterday in Burirram vehicle registration office sorting out the paper on the old Land rover we bought. When we arrived back home (dusk) we had serious thunderstorms etc.

For your info ( and for anyone else interested) I had a great introduction with George (Thaivisa) at Fat G*t's party at Farang Connection Saturday evening (which was brill as usual and many thanks to Martin for superb hospitality and to BuckWheat for the super barby ribs). Anyhow, Geaorge informed me that if you have TOT IPStar installed, well you can connect up a normal type telephone/fax system to the existing modem. I know you have been looking for ways to set up a fax line for the Mrs and it can be done. For a set-up fee of I think George said 1500 baht and an extra monthly premium of 90 baht per month you will have the equivalent of a landline type service, just plugs into the back of your existing IPStar modem. Call charges I am not too sure of...hope this helps...............see ya soon.......... :o RayBan
