National Father’s Day a windfall for restaurant business

kresearch-wpcf_728x413-1.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Restaurant business is getting a windfall from the Thai National Father's Day with 90 billion baht baht revenues are anticipated for the a actor in the fourth quarter this year.

The Thai National Father’s Day falls on December 5, the birthday of His Majesty the King.

On this day, almost all restaurants are fully occupied with customers eating out in families.

It is a day for family reunion for Thais. Sons and daughters chose this day to bring their parents to eat out.

The eating out will help to stimulate spending in the restaurant business sector.

Kasikorn Research Centre or KResearch has forecast the restaurant businesses in the fourth quarter this year could reach the value of around 93.8 billion baht, a 3.6% growth over the same period in the last year.

It said the higher growth than the third quarter were attributed to the effect of the holiday season during the month of December, particularly the National Father’s Day where business always turns unusually high.

But the printing industry didn’t enjoy the festive month like in the past many years.

The printing of greeting cards, well-wishing cards, calendars for the year is gloomy.

According to the President of Cluster Printing and Packaging, state enterprises and large corporations have reduced their orders by about 20 percent.

Orders via EMS have also declined by 60 percent from the prior years, which the company would usually see an influx of orders for calendars, cards, and other prints for the New Year.

He estimated that the overall printing industry in the country would likely not see any growth and could see a retraction from last year’s of 300 million baht.
