Seems like a while back I came across a company that you could ship things to in the US...once all the items had arrived, they ship them in a single box to, say, Bangkok...maybe even handle the duty part. Anyone ever use a service like this?

When i moved here i used Rama shipping from queens, new york. There is another place too, but can't remember the name. They both jave websites though.

Shipito has a consolidation service where you can have numerous items purchased from different vendors in the US shipped to their warehouse and they will then consolidate them for a fee and mail it to you here in Thailand using the carrier of your choice

OR, are you talking about have house hold goods shipped from the US and consolidated before being put on the boat ?
