Hello,

I will not use my simcard so much. Ideally I would top up only 100bahts/month or less...

Which prepaid simcard does not expire too quick even if I don't top up so much?
Thanks!

With any Happy DTAC SIM, you can add validity.

Extend Validity
Rates: 2 baht/30 day request, 6 baht/90 day, 12 baht/180 day. User will receive a confirmation SMS. Must have activated SIM for at least 90 days continuously, or have a total usage balance of over 200 baht. Account must not be suspended, and must have at least 1 day before it expires. Remaining credit may not be less than 10 baht after use. Account validity may not exceed 365 days. - Press : *113*[number of days 30/90/180]*9#imgPhone.gif Example: *113*180*9#imgPhone.gif for a 180 day extension.

Even with One-2 call (AIS) it is easy to maintain/extend the validity.

You need to top-up 10 Baht and the validity is extended for one more year.

This top-up must be done at a vending machine only(!). Not at the counter or any other channel.

E.g. at the orange colored machines in front of every 7-Eleven or thousands of other vending machines in the country.

At these machines every top-up costs a 2 Baht fee.

So effectively 12 Baht for 10 Baht top-up and one more month of validity.

If you want to save the 2 Baht fee, you can find vending machines at AIS customer centers.

And please don't try to top-up 100 Baht at once hoping you get 10 months. No!

You really have to do 10 times a top-up of 10 Baht to get 100 Baht credit with 10 month validity (as an example).

Somewhat silly but true tongue.png

Maximum validity period is supposed to be 12 months.

So a min of 120 Baht per year has to be topped up.

(I have found this trick in another Thaivisa thread BTW, but forgot where)

Oops.

My post has a hefty bug.

You need to top-up 10 Baht and the validity is extended for one more year.

Of course one MONTH for 10 Baht.

Hope it was clear from the rest of the text.

Wow! Thanks KuhnBENQ. I've been topping up my AIS cards the wrong way. Now I understand how to get the number of months that I want.
