mm-qcamera-daemon removal

Featured Replies

Don't know where it came from, web no help in removing it.

Uses 35% of my G5 battery.

Any way to remove - hopefully permanently?

Thanks

A simple Google Search for mm-qcamera-daemon would give you your answer

AndroidPolice, AndroidAuthority et al -- 2014 Oct 07

"Google has been wrestling with a series of strange and not too uncommon bugs with a part of the camera subsystem on the Nexus 5 called mm-qcamera-daemon. Without this component, the camera on this device won't function, but sometimes it goes wonky and drains the battery. A Googler has just marked this issue as "future release" in the AOSP issue tracker, meaning it should be fixed when Android L rolls out."

As stated in the OP - web search no help. Been there, done that. Your quote of a Nexus does no good as I stated G5.

Was told about an app called D-Vasive Pro, cost less than 6 bucks, it let me lock the camera.

Which solved the problem.

Google states "Go to the manufacturers and get a new Fone" Very helpful.

Glad to hear you found a way to resolve your battery-use issue. Though, locking/killing the camera doesn't seem very practical if you actually want to use the camera.

My post was meant to be helpful and to say that "mm-qcamera-daemon" is original software for many android phones (and not an add-on or a virus needing to be removed).

The reference to the Nexus was made because it is a DEVELOPER REFERENCE platform, as it runs BASIC/PURE Android with very few custom tweaks, so if it had the same mm-qcamera-daemon issue then the issue is NOT specific to your LG G5.

I have a i-Mobile IQ 1.2 running 4.3. While I don't have the camera issue, I do have an issue with APPS that don't close when I exit them or launch themselves in the background periodically and eat the battery. Normally I get 2 days on a full battery. If one of my MAPS or Analysis APPS stays open I'm lucky if I get 4 hours.

The phone came with the app "CleanMaster" that has a widget for closing background apps and removing them from RAM. I've gotten into the habit of pressing the widget before putting the phone in my pocket.

While neither of us has a 'fix', we do have work-arounds. It's very unlikely I will ever see an OS update on my phone.

Try that D-Vasive. Put a shortcut on the home page. Click it, enable camera, take foto, lock it down.

Works great, a PITA sure, but what u gonna do !

In car most of yesterday, took a few foto, some line, couple of calls, Check email.

2100 last nite still had 88% left. Beauty.

Thanks for your post.
