Draytel Voip Uk Geographic Number

www.draytel.org A little bit different to other VOIP services.

I really think this one is going to take off in a big way. It allows for the standard free VOIP calls to other VOIP users and also the VERY cheap VOIP to Landline / Mobile Numbers.

But what is different is you can get a local UK number assigned so people can call you - You can have a local knutsford number here in BKK for example.

I realise this might be seen as advertising a product (I am not connected to the company in any way) but its pretty incredible for expats here.

Ok but Skype has been doing that for ages, and of course has millions of online subscibers - whats the advantage with Draytel?

:o

I dont think Skype allows you to select your own UK Geographic number. and also allows you to use a standard DECT phone with the service.

Vonage does though. Is it better / cheaper / more fully featured than Vonage?

It is cheaper than Vonage. And it is PAYG ie no monthly subscription charge i think vonage if i remember correctly starts at $14.99 a month for the basic service every month whether u make calls or not and also didnt think it included asia in the monthly packages.

Yeah, Vonage's deal at the moment in the UK is a monthly subscription of £7.99. However, that does include free unlimited landline calls in the UK and slightly cheaper rates for UK mobiles - 15p/min daytime, 10p/min evening and 5p/min @ weekends vs Draytel's flat 14p/minute.

So Vonage would probably work out cheaper if you're making a lot of UK landline calls and mobile calls at weekends, Draytel for less frequent callers as no monthly charge.

Why not take a look at http://www.cheapvoip.com

Here you can call landlines for free in a lot of countries incl. Thailand. The only thing you have to do is: open a account with 10 US/EURO/GBP and use this within several month! NO MONTHLY CHARGE!!

reimar: free landlines in Thailand, do I understand right??

10 euro is approx. 500 baht. for our landline we pay 300 baht (and we 5 of it).

so if a landline causes more than 200 baht to other landlines I am cheaper with that offer?

say 10 phone calls within BKK are 30 baht per dayxwith 30 days per month=900 baht.

With that it would be just 200 baht, right?

If they offer good price to mobile phone I can save a lot money (2 hours call to the south/mobile).

Is it that way? Is it legal (who the f cares??)

Hi h90,

It's right, free calls to landlines in Thailand and even to mobile is quiet cheap. Check out the website, all info there.

But NOT suiteable for IP-Star because of the delay of the signal from more than 1000 ms!!

And it is legal as well!

good to know :o

IPSTar at 1000ms is no problem, as I either call my mother or my wife is speaking to someone, both cases are anyway an one way communication, to interrupt the flow of words is neither possible nor permited.....

No I should get buddy internet today (maybe....)

Exactly the same as the Tesco internet phone, (The same Tesco as in Tesco-Lotus), the phone plugs into USB port and very simple to set up, calls cost 2p (1.4THB) to all UK except mobiles which are 10p (7THB) with the exception of 3G which are 25p (18THB) per minute.

Plus all calls to: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates & USA are also 2p (1.4THB) per minute, calls to Thailand are 6p (4.2THB) including mobiles per minute, best thing of all calls to other Tesco internet phone users are free from and to anywhere in the world.

I purchased one last week for £14.99 (1050THB), (was on special offer), this included a USB handset with working LCD display and keypad, also came with a £5 voucher for call, once set up I have chosen a local UK number (+44 121 271 ####) that allows me to receive incoming calls when the computer is on line else call go to voice messaging service, there are no charges for receiving calls and persons calling you pay the normal price for phone calls, also there are no monthly charges or set up fees.

I think you can register and use the service using any handset that is available for “Skype” and supposedly you can use this anywhere in the world with internet access, (do not know if you can use it in China because of the censoring).

More details; Tesco Internet Phone

All conversions are based on 70THB = £1GBP
