Former Pheu Thai MP arrested on fraud charge

BANGKOK: -- Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ratchaburi province of the Pheu Thai Party, Pol Lt Chawarin Latthasaksiri was arrested at Suvarnbhumi airport before boarding a flight to Japan on a business trip.

He was immediately escorted to Dusit police station to face fraud charge filed by representative of a Phnom Penh-based company, Cambodia Petrochemical Company, on fraud.

Cambodia Petrochemical Company’s representative has recently filed a complaint with Dusit station police that it has recently ordered cement from TPI Poline Plc in Bangkok for 11 million baht.

After the deal, CPC has transferred the money to TPI’s account.

It later checked with TPI Polene inquiring about the money transfer into its account for the cement purchase but was tod no transaction was transferred to its account.

Later investigation and finding revealed that its email was hacked by a Thai charity organisation in Ratchaburi known as Thai-Chinese Buddhism Life Association or Vithi Bhud Thai-Chinese in which the former MP is in full charge.

The money was then transferred to the account of the association instead of TPI Polene’s.

The representative then contacted the former MP with request to return the cash back to its account but was rejected with reason that it was all spent up as he thought the money was a donation to the association.

Failing to convince the former MP to return the money, the Cambodian company then asked the police for help.

The police issued a summon ordering the former MP to turn in to the police for questioning but he refused.

Later an arrest warrant was sought from the court on January 6 and was approved.

Pol Lt Chawarin was detained for questioning at the police station and was trying to pose bail for temporary release.

And this is only a measly 11 million baht deal.

The rice scheme was 980 billion baht. Just imagine the damage these guys did in that scheme. (yes, yes yingluck was elected!)

Also it is also unsurprising that he was an elected senator. This highlights why appointed senators are critical, as in Canada, to a democratic society.

This is so far 3 PTP criminals that have been voted into their senator positions by an uniformed population with those senators simply being there to mirror the PTP's political stance. Doesn't sound very democratic right? Kinda as democratic as an elected government that doesn't practice democracy!

You know what is democratic? A Senate being a house of review and a powerful check on the government of the day.

I look forward to this being heard if front of the courts and if he is found innocent I will respect that result. After all respect for the law is a principle of democracy.

djjamie. Which one is you??post-218648-0-95561200-1421061742_thumb.

Former Pheu Thai MP arrested on fraud charge

Just one? Put all the members of PTP in a room, blindfold a guy with a paint gun, tell him he can only shoot once, 99% chance he will hit a crook. The 1% allowance is factoring in the chance that he may miss everyone.

and he has applied for bail, how long before he is over the border and with his old boss. The ptp are all scum and this is still the tip of the crop, there will be many more ptp/reds will to follow now with all the corruption being exposed after years of being hidden by their mates

Exactly. Blatant theft - and fairly easy to trace. They weren't worried before though because they new that it would simply be covered up, lies told and clouded.

Hopefully he won't be allowed to do a runner.

You could charge every one of them with fraud for falsely claiming to represent the people of Thailand while accepting payment and orders from a out-of-country criminal. Personally, I would a charge with a little more penalty attached, like treason.

Actually a more amazing and newsworthy headline would have been - "Former PTP MP Pol Lt Chawarin Latthasaksiri was investigated and found to have a clean record............................................................" clap2.gif
