Health Check Up 2015 - Bangkok General Hospital

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Bumrungrad decides to increase their health check up package from last year prices by 4500 Baht. Have emailed and asked why they never reply so after calling they just put the phone down!! Terrible unusual customer service so I am moving on.

So I have looked online and seen that Bangkok General have the same package (actually has extra hearing test) for only 14,200 Baht. Now my question is has anyone actually been to Bangkok General for a medical check up, any opinions?

Thanks, Paul

All the hospitals are pretty much the same in terms of doing the tests well. What varies is the quality of the review of the results - and in that dept my experience with Bumrungrad has been consitiently negative. Also bad at Bkk Chrisitian. Better at St. Louis and really good at Samitivej. Unfortunately I haven't tried Bkk General.

Of course even with a poor quality doctor review, as long as you are careful to go through the results yourself and look into any abnormal results, will still be useful. But do beware. Also, even at the same hospital the thoroughness may vary with the individual doctor and sometimes even with the time of day, how tired her or she is etc.

If you feel that what you get in terms of presentation of results is rushed or glib, it probably is, and do your own homework to figure out whether any findings outside of normal limits is of concern.

BTW the mistakes I have seen go in both directions: glibly telling people they are fine when in fact there were serious abnormalities, and unncesessarily telling people they had a problem and needed to see a specialist. Failing to factor in individual medical history is common aspect of this.
