webfact
Yingluck skips NLA grillingBANGKOK: -- Former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra refused to attend the meeting of the National Legislative Assembly Friday to answer questions but assigned her team of lawyers and minister to act on her behalf. The NLA began the second day of the impeachment process against Ms Yingluck, after yesterday’s sessions grilling former Senate speaker Nikhom Wairatpaniuch, and former House speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont. The grilling session this morning began 10.00 am but without the presence of Ms Yingluck, although she insisted strongly she would come to answer all questions, with confidence of her innocence in the rice-pledging scheme. However after a tense meeting with her lawyers last night, she was advised not to come as she might be cornered with numerous questions that she might not have knowledge in details as she was a policy holder and not a practitioner.Acting on her behalf today are former deputy prime minister Niwatthamlong Boonsongpaisarl, former finance minister Kittirat na Ranong, former commerce minister Yanyong Puangraj, and chief lawyer Phichit Chuenban. Before the session began, NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai asked the chief lawyer the reasons why Ms Yingluck did not appear to answer the questions. The lawyer cited a rule of the NLA meeting that allows relevant persons or representatives to answer on her behalf and also said the former premier had already arrived and explained everything clearly on the opening of the impeachment process. He asked that the NLA treated her with no prejudices. However this was argued by a member of the nine-member grilling panel Gen Somjetn Boonthanom who insisted that she must come.Later the NLA president told both the accused party and the accuser (the National Anti-Corruption Commission) to leave the meeting room somas to allow the NLA to make decision of whether it will allow her representatives to answer questions relating to her role in the scheme or not. Popular Post JAG
The cheek of it, an elected Prime Minister refusing to present herself before those tasked with impeaching her by the Junta who deposed her in a military coup! Popular Post Mango Bob
I'm sure the committee is upset she didn't show up so they could ask trick questions they had already planned for. Screw the committee they have already made up their minds in the case. It's just to get their picture in the news. The whole process is illegal anyway.
Popular Post NeverSure
This is GREAT. This is a hot potato that the junta can't handle. I in no way favor or exhonerate Yingluck, but this is a game I want to watch. Yingluck 1, Junta 0. Edited January 16, 2015 by NeverSure

She was just told by her advisers that she is too dumb to answer any questions so she better stay home. To the disappointment of the judges and myself waiting for her to get ridiculed.....

Screw the committee they have already made up their minds in the case. It's just to get their picture in the news. The whole process is illegal anyway. Her lawyers ( instructed by TS ) told her not to attend as without notes to read, she would have to tell the truth and implicate not only her but many others ie TS and PTP. Trick questions such as NLA - Why didn't you attend the meetings of the Rice Scam that you were chairwoman of ? YS - I was always away on more important overseas shopping trips. NLA - Who ran the Rice Scam meetings ? TS on Skype from Dubai NLA - Why didn't the Rice Scam work YS - It did, we all made money. NLA Why didn't the scam help the rice farmers YS - It was just to buy their votes - We always knew the rice farmer's income wouldn't increase as we know the poorest farmers eat all their rice, and many rent the land and the landlords just increased their rents as we never fixed them. Illegal according to you, but not to NLA and NACC who say the new charter allows impeachment
Popular Post thesetat2013
Anyone who expected her to go to this is a fool. Why would she go when she never bothered to go to any of the rice scheme meetings? Why would she go when she doesn't have any answers for their questions? The NLA did claim though that she had to attend because she was present in giving her evidence personally at the first meeting. The fact that their are what? 60 questions? She probably couldn't answer 1 except for her name.

Popular Post ikke
Above the law. T.I.T. Exactly ! How can the NLA think they are above the law. Following the law, and the rules of NLA she don't have to show up in person, now one of the generals wants her to come, they gonna decide against the law to let her come ! Yes, T.I.T.

WhizBang
Well, that will do wonders to prove her innocence on the negligence charges. Exactly, just another show of negligence. But the fact is she could never answer any real questions anyway, and her lawyers are much better liars. Just like her previous appearance veered so far off the topic as to be in fantasy land.
Popular Post NongKhaiKid
I hope the NLA don't get too miffed as they are in good company, look how long she ignored the ombudsman over her brother's passport
Popular Post Siripon
This is terrible news, only last week our radiant ex-PM promised Thailand there was no corruption, no negligence on her part as the chairwoman of the rice policy and the scheme. She's been unemployed since last May, surely she could have found time to produce the figures to defend her case? The ex chairwoman and ex-PM cannot answer questions about her own party's flagship policy. No wonder they wouldn't let her debate against Apisit before the last election. Remember ladies and gentlemen, never judge a book by its cover. The outside may be shiny and glossy, sleek and smelling fresh straight off the printing press but inside there may be just blank pages with an occasional footnote referring to Dubai.
aussieinthailand
Hmmm taking the advice of her lawyer, seems like the smart thing to do, especially when faced with the legal system here. Above the law? really, So you would face a legal situation here in Thailand and you not take your lawyers advice hot shot, BS mate...... If she has that right and uses it then why not? just the boys don't like and now want her to come anyway, NOT THIER CHOICE, HER CHOICE, GET OVER IT. NeverSure
So, what's the punishment if found guilty? Can't run for office for 5 years or is there more? I want to see the general try to punish her. I wonder if he's astute enough to know there'll be a backlash? I'll bet he's wishing he'd never opened this can of worms. He isn't bringing happiness to the general.
Popular Post seajae
once again we see yl lying to the people of Thailand, seems to run in the family. She didnt attend because she would have been too brain dead to answer any of the questions, she is totally incapable of doing any thinking/reasoning for herself so she has to send others to try to get her out of the sh*t she has put herself in. They should issue an arrest warrant and throw her sorry arse into jail, once again we see the pathetic shin family hiding from facing their responsibilities, what else can we expect

Popular Post smedly
Now who had that seen coming ? isn't this exactly why she is in the dock in the first place, she still hasn't realised that she was actually the PM of Thailand whether she likes it or not She has done everything but proclaim that it was actually her brother that was the real PM and she never had any responsibility to any of it - in action but not in words, It just goes to show how weak the system is when people like Thaksin can mock the whole thing in plain site and nobody bats and eyelid She should have been forced to take part in person - something else to write into the new charter
