I’m thinking of upgrading my old android phone to an non-android phone. On my android phone I can back up (ie “export”) my phone contacts to the micro sd card. However my next phone be it iphone or windows phone more likely than not won’t have additional storage in the form of an sd card. So how do I move my phone contacts from my current phone to the new phone?

Create Google account, sync contacts with Google account. When new phone repeat.

Other alternative is sign up for a free cloud service, upload contacts to cloud service, when new phone download contacts from cloud service.

I did the contacts sync with my google account and the transfer happened pretty straightforward. Thanks Anthony5 for the tip, really appreciated it.
