Internet provider?

Featured Replies

Renting a room in Samut Prakan for 6 months. The building manager said True wanted a one year contract for any of their packages.

Anyway any suggestions about best internet set up/ deals/ providers. Thanks in advance...

PS been getting hit and miss tethering to my Macbook Air from a lumia 630 that's a whole 'nother story...

You'll need a mobile phone provider for that short of term.

You'll have to work out your tethering problems or otherwise get a mobile wireless router that acts as Wi-Fi hotspot.

Turn your smart phone into a wi-fi hot spot?

I thin there are aps for doing that.

Not even an app needed. Many (most, my) smartphones offer "tethering".

On the other hand one has to do the math:

a basic DSL package paid for one year is probably cheaper than 6 months of mobile internet.

Also expecting that the DSL will provide much more speed and being a real flat rate.

Depends on your needs.

TOT does not require 1 year contract and easy to get if your land lord buy it in his name (and you pay him deposit and monthly fee)

Depends on usage, if its light use then a data package sim may be appropriate, if its heavy downloading in excess of 6gb per month you really need a static connection not mobile.

DONT be fooled by "unlimited" internet, it usually works at X speed for the data plan, then drops dramatically to about 256k speed after the data usage limit is reached, so technically its unlimited, but practically its useless after the the agreed data usage expires.

Yeap, what CharlieH said. For Thailand mobile data plans when it says "unlimited," well, yes it is however after you use the basic high speed amount it drops down to 64Kb to 384Kb speed depending on your plan until the beginning of your next billing month. "Unlimited" usage at only 64Kb to 384Kb can be a s......l......o.......w interneting experience.

TOT 3G has 1Mbit/s and 2Mbit/s unlimited plans if you got the TOT 3G signal.

All of these one year contracts simply impose a one-time fine/penalty for early termination. Find out what that is, and whether you think it's something you are willing to pay... simple! :)
