First time on this forum... and surprised to see so many fans of Arse*** and Man U here, perhaps they need a little excitement:-)

Watched the game yesterday at Gullivers in Pattaya. It was one of the most complete performances I have seen from a Spurs side since the early 80's (still have season ticket at WHL)...

<deleted>, at home to Norwich?

All this spending has gone to your head....

wink.png

I agree, much the same as the euphoria of Ozil's two assists playing a mackem pub side that was also hindered by a bent official. clap2.gif Even that blind french ponce of a manager saw it was outsidewhistling.gif

Yes, but then again I wouldn't say that was "the most complete performance I have seen since the '80s".

Imagine what you'll do to the Norwegian minnows on Thursday night if you play like that.

Spending??? We made a profit of 3 million on transfers this summer... only the football yesterday went to my head... and you are still on the wrong forum, need directions?

Whether you profited 3 million or not the fundamentals of accountancy say you spent a sh^t load of money. And you performances on the park will be analysed with greater scrutiny because of this.

Does this strike anyone as bizarre? If they ban it because it's offensive, every away support is going to sing it.

Personally I can think of far more offensive stuff that goes on, especially between the Moaners and the Mickey Mousers.

Be interested to hear your take on it.

Tottenham are planning to ask their fans if they think the time has come to stop chanting the Y-word.

For years Tottenham, who have a strong Jewish following, have been on the receiving end of cruel anti-Semitic abuse from opposition fans.

In an act of defiance, some fans of the north London club have coined the word "Yid" themselves, and chants of "Yids", "Yid Army" and "Yiddos" are regularly sung on the home terraces at White Hart Lane.

Last Monday the Football Association (FA) issued a statement warning supporters that use of such words could result in either a banning order or even criminal prosecution.

Tottenham responded by saying they would consult with their fans on the matter, and it has now emerged they will do so in the form of a questionnaire that will be sent out to all season-ticket holders.

"There is a document that Spurs will be sending out to season-ticket holders in due course," Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust (THST) chairman Darren Alexander said.

"It's a questionnaire, and basically what the club want to ascertain is do the fans think now is the right time to be stop using this identity.

"If that comes back and a clear majority of fans think: yes, now is the time, then we move forward and we will work actively with the club if they want us to and we will think about how is best to do that."

Tottenham fans reacted defiantly to the FA's statement on Saturday as they chanted "Yid Army" and "We'll sing what we want" throughout the 2-0 win over Norwich.

The same happened last season after Peter Herbert, the head of the Society of Black Lawyers, threatened to report anyone using the phrase to the police.

The THST is unhappy with the way that English football's governing body has brought the issue back on to the agenda, and it insists the fans will be the only ones who decide whether it is time to drop the chants.

"If Spurs fans genuinely are going to stop using this word then it should be our decision," Alexander said.

"It shouldn't be something that is trying to be forced on us by the FA or Peter Herbert.

"There was a degree of defiance on Saturday and that was always going to happen with the way that the FA has gone about this.

"This is something I have been dealing with for seven years and all of a sudden the FA have gone out on a limb by issuing this statement without proper consultation with the club or the fans.

"There is always going to be the idea among the fans that they are picking on us and that is why that act of defiance happened."

The FA's warning that any fan who chants the Y-word could be prosecuted under criminal law is muddied by the fact that police would have to prove the person who chants the phrase did so with the intention to cause offence.

"I know it is offensive to some Jewish people, but our focus is the legality of what the FA has announced this week," Alexander said.

"As far as we are concerned and as far as the police are concerned, unless there is an intent to offend, then you can't be prosecuted.

"We sincerely believe that no Spurs fan ever uses the Y-word or shouts Yid Army in an effort to offend anyone."

The FA has not responded to requests for a comment on the matter.

It is understood that Tottenham have been consulting fans over the matter for a while and the club are insistent that any survey of opinion has not come about as a result of the FA's statement.

It's not like we don't have our fair share of jewfros at the Emirates after all.

This right-on PC attitude in the British middle classes makes me puke. By diluting the focus away from real issues, like discrimination against blacks and some other classes of immigrant they shoot themselves in the foot. I don't think there has been real anti-Jewish sentiment in the UK since I was a lad. Respect to the Spurs fans for showing that by pulling their local Jewish community/support within their moat.

Oh don't worry Nick, you'll soon get the gist of it here. It only takes a small wobble and your fellow tiny totts are all over the other forums like a rash.

As for spending, I wasn't referring to how you paid for it, but the number and value of players you've brought in, several of which were a club record on their own.

Being pedantic doesn't work in here, we all know you sold Bale for a fortune, how do you think we got Özil?

Read my earlier post Chicy

.

You could also say that if they hadn't bought Isco they also wouldn't have let Ozil go ! and why out of all the players they could have sold it was Ozil they let go.

As for the best player available, i think Suarez was needed more than Ozil.

Nice one. But I think the 50m euros went straight into the account Bale's fee came out of.

Call me naïve, but the URL states "tottenhamthread", so I am still confused to know what a gooner is doing in here?

In the football forum anybody can contribute to whatever thread they wish and it's all part of the banter.

Mr Bo he is obviously a Gambler and looking for a return - odds on I think he will get one coffee1.gif

Until the URL reads "thread for tottenham supports only" you need to get a grip. if all you want to read are fawning comments about Spurs, you should go on a dedicated websitethumbsup.gif

Very eloquently put, you are quite obviously not a moron.

I however do tend to only read about things I am passionate about, one being Spurs, and you will NEVER find me reading, or commenting on a gooner forum, call me old fashioned.

If I wanted "banter" from other supporters, I would be reading and contributing to an open "football" site, not a specific team. There must be some very bored people out there.....

Amen. I wouldn't even know where to start as far as criticizing this PC garbage. The tea and crumpet set takes on another "issue". whistling.gif

Well you find on this forum it is not dissilimar to a bunch of football friend/fans who support different clubs from different backgrounds sharing opinions about football as we enjoy taking interest in more than our own clubs and like most real football fans we enjoy friendly banter and ribbing our mates but still share a collective respect for one another (usually).

So that's the way it is here, welcome to join the fun it is great laugh, educational sometimes and humbling at other times. Otherwise you are quite welcome to not participate but don't moan about it just bugger off

Nice summary BB and spot on.

We should all be very happy with that. Very decent performance all round.

Eriksen is a class act, the perfect player we need to link up Soldado. Best i've seen Rose play, although he needs to control his temper. No good stomping around like an angry midget. Aside of that he was excellent.

Townsend's going to be playing a big part this season and exciting to watch but he's rather greedy, which is probably an age thing but AVB needs to have a little word.

Whats going on with Kaboul? We are missing him.

Agreed, Erikson is a class player. The weight of his pass was superb.

Townsend does look a talent and must be highly regarded to be starting for you, your right thought about him liking a shot!!

just to make it clear, i don't want to take away the enthusiasm of a young player like Townsend because, in his efforts to hold on to his starting place he gets a bit greedy. But, when a player is taking six or seven pops at goal, with an "on target rate of only 18% then the manager needs to step in and curb him a little. Theres also the other matter of a pass being the better option.

However, he's already started really brightly and is exciting to watch. My pick over Lennon all day long. His problem will be Lamela. The way Townsend has started i would have thought Lennon will be sold in january.

Lamela, Chadli and Townsend is enough in my book baring in mind all three play either side

Townsend needs to improve his final ball....hopefully playing alongside those two rather than Lennon will aid his development in that area.

Good performance that....more goals please next time though.

I think it is all about the final ball, either as a shot or cross. Unless he is going to walk the ball into the net all the time, he needs this ability to get to world class. There are a lot of overpaid wingmen about whose only real ability is to run fast.

I know what I'm talking about...I support Liverpool wink.png

Isn't having only yerself involved masturbation?

Bringing in others makes it mutual.

Gooner and Wo-Manu fans r here because they like comedy, and saying only tittnam fans is a bit like colour segregated buses, shops and toilets.

The Yid Army preaching apartheid on their site is beyond irony.

They used to be a football team; now they ain't even the yids.

Really looking forward to the next couple of games, I reckon AVB will rest a few players that featured in last weekends EMPHATIC win over Norwich, probably will bring in Fryers, Freidel, Naughton, Sandro, Defoe, Kaboul, Holtby, Chadli, Lennon and Lamela..... such a small squad we have :-) Back to normal service against Cardiff Sunday. Seems like an exciting game last night, Liverpool first half, Swansea second, going to be an exciting Premier League this year I believe....

Probably a fat ex-pat, in his autumn years, wears a Singha vest to show off his tattoos, bald or dyes his hair to make himself look attractive to the bar girls.... maybe sponging off the government too.... better not to stoop to his levels, and leave him to his sad empty life.

More like one of those knobhead white boys that speaks in a contrived accent "the language of the ghetto."

Either way really tedious and embarrassing

Yes it was a bloody good win and the team can only get better as the games roll on. No team is going to walk away with it this season so yeah.....gonna be a whole lot of excitement for everyone.

Just hope Soldado and Lamela find their scoring boots early on...Cardiff and then the chavs at home.....that one will be a big test for us.

Soldado still isn't getting the service, but that should and is improving with Eriksen on the scene playing, well frankly anyway he wants from i've seen!

Lamela should start from now on playing an inverted wing role, same as Townsend, cutting inside allowing Rose and Walker to play wing back roles with the cover at the back coming from Paulinho and Sandro/Capoue.

When we can start fielding this best eleven in this manner then the goals will come and we'll see what we are made of but fans should be patient, which ofcourse they won't!

I'll feel much better with Kaboul back and Capoue who's due back in a couple of weeks but will probably miss the "Mourinho game."
