We are travelling in a party of 5 to bangkok and we are staying for 3 nights . We are thinking of booking a trip to the River Kwai and Death railway and was wondering if best to find a guided tour on line or wait till we arrive in bangkok ? we are also travelling to Hua Hin and also wondered if its better to travel from there ?

Do you have a hotel setup in Kanchanaburi yet? If so, almost every hotel offers tours of the local sights. Even your hotel in Bangkok can probably set something up. If not, there are dozens of travel agencies in Bangkok and many offer trips to these places. How long will you be in Kan?

I'm sure it would also be easy to find a minivan with a driver in HH to take you to Kan and show you around. They park on the street in the middle of town and have reasonable rates. But negotiate a bit! LOL

However the OP mentioned

1. Starting Point from BBK to Kan

2. Then on to HH.

Which part do you not understand BKK to KAN and then HH facepalm.gif

I was there last week, stayed at Radisson suites in BKK and booked a tour through the hotel, River Kwai, Elephant Riding and Tiger Temple. Pick up at the hotel was 06:20 and arrived back at the hotel at 19:30.

Best deal in tourism:

$4 round trip from BKK and authentic, 3rd class train experience. Not for everyone, but my favorite way to get to K-Buri. It probably doesn't fit the OP's 3 night itinerary, but it's a great way to make one of the legs of the trip.

I take the Saturday train up, and the Sunday afternoon train back. (When I don't drive myself).

Edit: Just noticed- Scroll down to read about the special Weekend/Holiday Tourist train...
