Some good advise here:

http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/expert-advice-on-how-to-avoid-destroying-your-phones-battery/

I sometimes use the USB cable from my tablet computer to charge my phone when I have forgotten to pack my phone charger and it's charging awfully fast. I'm sure it's not healty for the battery but I cannot verify this since I haven't been able to find the info.

From the article:

"It’s also important to ensure that the charger and cable you buy has the correct rating. Cross-check the amp or watt rating with your phone’s specifications."

Where do I find the amp/watt rating of a Samsung S4 Mini?

Form the SAMSUNG website and many charger sites, you find:

Power
  • Input Voltage 5V, 2A
  • Output Current 1.7A
  • Output Voltage 4.35V

That makes sense, as all the USB connectors at a PC e.g. have a 5 V supply.

Not sure whether they deliver 2A.

The experts still argue, whether "fast loading" is harmful to the battery.

Seems like it reduces battery life.

How fast is this charging at your PC? At my PC my SAMSUNG thing charges creepingly slow.

If I use the "fat" cable that came with my Nexus 10 I can charge my S4 Mini phone from 50-60 to 100 % in about an hour or so. That's gotta be unhealthy for the battery (?)
