Coldest area in Thailand in June-July

Featured Replies

I'm planning to spend a month in Thailand in June-July this year training muay thai. My biggest concern is the hot and humid weather during these months. Unfortunately, it's the only time I can go. So I am looking for the coldest and driest area in Thailand during this time. I was thinking of getting as far north as possible, somewhere like Ching Mai, as opposed to Bankgkok which I was originally planning for. Also heard good things about Santai gym in there.

Is this worth the trouble of going the extra mile to get there as opposed to Bankgkok? Or am I just equally screwed no matter where I go in Thailand during this period?

Thanks.

At that time of year, almost everywhere will be wet and humid, as well as being quite warm. Your best bet for relatively cool and perhaps somewhat less wet weather might be somewhere up north, up at higher elevations. So while Chiang Mai city will still be warm to hot, somewhere like Doi Mae Salong at 1800m up in Chiang Rai province might be to your liking. However, it will rain quite a lot that time of year so not sure if you can really escape the wet. Another possible option might be Isarn, but I don't know anywhere in Isarn at high enough elevation for temperatures to be low enough to your liking, at that time of year since Isarn doesn't feature any really high mountains. However, Khao Yai might be OK though probably still fairly wet.
