PATTAYA:--Lions and dragons will dance from morning to night when Pattaya celebrates Chinese New Year Feb. 19.

The day will begin with Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome leading a religious ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. in front of the HM King Taksin monument at city hall.

Additional ceremonies will take place at the Prince Chumphon monument outside the Naval Radio Station on Pratamnak Hill beginning at 10.19 a.m., and at the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Naklua beginning at 11.19 a.m. All 3 locations will have similar activities, which include the lion and dragon dances.

Registration for the Miss Chinese Girl contest will begin at 3.30 p.m. at the Lan Pho Market in Naklua.

The official opening ceremony will begin at 7.30 p.m. at the Lan Pho Market, presided over by Former Minister of Culture Sonthaya Kunplome.

Activities at Lan Pho Market beginning at 8.10 p.m. include lion and dragon dances, a Shaolin Kung <deleted> Show and a special appearance by Kot Chakapan, a popular music artist who will sing a few songs, followed by other popular Thai musicians from R-Siam.

Very confusing seems the Chinese can not tell the difference between sheep and goats.
