Hotmail - Only English And Rubbish

Featured Replies

My gf has a Hotmail account, and most of her incoming/outgoing emails are in Thai, which shows up as garbage in both directions.

Is there any way to configure her account so that it reads and sends Thai, without taking over my entire computer?

Computer illiterate...single-syllable replies, pls.

there should be an option like character encoding or something like that, than the rubbish should change to readable thai.

For writing thai, on regional and language settings it should be able to set thai than you can switch language easy.

Maybe someone can explain better, I have at the moment troubles with my computer so I can not test it. But it must be something like that....

If she is using Internet Explorer as her browser, have her go to the View menuitem and select the Encoding button where a list of available character sets should appear. If Thai isn't one of them, then choose the More option to see a list of more character sets.

I use Windows XP and in the beginning I had to install the Thai character sets. There are instructions in Windows online help about installing Thai character sets. I suggest you bring up Windows main Help Index and do a search for the word "Thai". Once this character set is installed you should be able to add a Thai keyboard which I have selectable via the Language Bar toolbar that is part of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and next to the system tray.

We use Firefox, but as you mentioned it I have set up IE with encoding, and hotmail as its home page, so no password needed etc...one click and she's in.

Problem resolved, many thanks.
