Planning a family break in Phuket

Help please. I am planning a break north of Phuket airport and will happily pay 4000 per night for a good resort.

I am looking for some local knowledge if possible please as I have not been north of the airport before. Just looking for decent recommended restaurants and pubs within reasonable walking distance of the resorts along Mai Khao beach. Premiership football coverage essential so a good pub/sports bar will be very welcome. Is the beach as good as it looks? Anything to avoid? I am not planning to venture south as I have travelled the island before. I just want some peaceful isolation/long walks on the beach and some decent food and beer. Any advice welcome. Thanks
