Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok is the foremost facility for all aspects of eye care - but probably not indicated for just a general exam that any trained ophthalmologist working at local hospital can provide. But if there are any problems indicated Rutnin or other major facility would likely have better equipment for testing. Even Visual Field Testing equipment is often not found in hospitals here and is an indicated test for most people with higher eye pressure.

So if you do not have a regular facility it may make good sense to just go to Rutnin as your starting point. It is a very busy facility but very well organized and not more expensive than most other private facilities for normal exam/tests.

Rutnin is the best. Easy to access from Pattaya. Bus to airport the airport rail link to Makassan Staion. ( Asoke)..nice 10 minute walk from there to Rutnin. Walk back after appointment..rail link back to airport and bus home. I do it every 3 months due to an eye condition I have

Yes. English isn't a problem there. When you make your appointment , let them know you want a USA trained

Dr. that speaks English. I use a thai Dr and her English is fine.

Eye checkup in Bangkok or Pattaya?

Bangkok Hospital has a decent eye clinic. They've given me good care for years.

As is also true of the eye clinic at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. I've received highly successful treatment there for macular degeneration from a retinal specialist . I had considered Rutnin, but since I'm resident in Pattaya and the treatment (intraocular injections) and follow-up continued for several years and required numerous appointments, the travel time & costs for repeated trips to Bangkok would have been inconvenient.

They are now equipped to do Optical Coherence Tomography imaging, something for which I had to travel to Bangkok when I first started treatment and the BPH pharmacy can prepare Avastin for injections, which could be of importance for anyone suffering from age-related macular degeneration.
