Could also be flavouring, preservatives, dodgy agents and other nasties in vitamins that are throwing you off. That stuff would probably help. Tried protein powders in the past but found creatin put the most weight on (in conjunction with gym).

Food contains vitamins so I doubt you have an intolerance to anything with vitamins. You may have had bad reactions to consuming supplements with excessively high amounts of certain vitamins or to additives they contained.

Consuming more calories will help you gain weight provided the weight loss is not due to some underlying pathology. Doesn't matter whether you achieve this through food alone or a combination of food and shakes/supplements. You could just eat a lot of ice cream to the same effect.

The larger question is why you have lost all this weight to begin with. Have you been ill?

thanks for the replies.

What sheryl said is correct in my case ''You may have had bad reactions to consuming supplements with excessively high amounts of certain vitamins ''

bc I think that I cant tolerate iron or vit A and possibly the B vitamins (maybe). I get pains in my upper body after taking anything with vit a or iron ranging from breakfast cereals to vitamin drinks etc.

Im unsure but perhaps I have IBS. Sometimes I go to toilet 3 to 4 times a day and have funny pains in my belly.

I recently had blood tests done at a big expensive hospital in bangas. The WBC was normal at 5.3 but neutrophil was Low at 41.8 and Lymphocyte was High at 47.8. Ive had the same readings like this for nearly 2 yrs and would like to know what is causing this. Only other small blood issues were Chloride in blood high at 108 and vitamin D3 26.9 (vit D2 < 2.4). I seem to be missing a page or 2 of the results but remember I was deficient in calcium I think as the dr perscribed me Caltrate plus and Vit D2 20,000iu

I had many blood tests for everything (diabetes initial FPG reading 90 (normal) followed by fasting 2 hours and drink glucose and reading was then 96 mg/dl). Thyroid was normal and so was kidney and liver. ESR normal at 5

My only other weird thing is that I have a hard lump on my arm. It arrived a week ago. When I run my finger over it its hard. Not soft feeling. Dr said last night that he was unsure and that I should wait a few more months.

Ive never calculated BMI but my weight is 64 and height is 179cm. I was 68.5 and have not lost appetite- its the opposite for me as Im always hungry.

Any opinions are appreciated. I suspect nothing is actually wrong and that I could live until Im 90 but who knows...

sorry for straying off topic, how did the creatine help you put on the weight? I thought is was kinda like a booster that allowed you to work out a bit harder no?

Just quickly looking at a few of the products on that website, what strikes me is that all the portion sizes give only a very small number of calories (200-300) and very little fat.

To put on weight you need to take in more calories, and the easiest way to do that is to consume fat (the most concentrated source of calories). Belly pork, bacon, deep fried food, seeds and nuts (including butters), chocolate, whole eggs (preferably fried in butter or deep fried in lard).

Dried fruits are also good. Not high in fat, but high in calories on account of the high sugar content.

I have lost 4 to 5 kg in the last few months.

That happening without any explanation is disconcerting.

Have you had a stool test for parasites?

creatine makes your body retain fluid .....

ah ok, that's why they say drinks lots of water when you are taking it.

Actually it helps you retain fluid and more energy in the muscle making it possible to workout harder.. that in turn should lead to some extra muscle too. Its one of the few products that work.

If you need a weight gainer.. buy some unflavored protein powder at clubprotein.

Then take 2 scoops (30gram each) add some oatmeal (60-70 grams carbs ) and some cacoa powder.

This is a good weightgainer, if you want to gain weight.. drink your food.

My mistake.. put it all in a blender. ad some milk too or water if you have a problem with lactose.

Ah ok, figured as much, never tried blending oatmeal...concrete comes to mind lol

It all depends on how much milk / water you use. Its quite an easy meal. I have tried it once but in general I dont. I don't have a problem gaining weight. Keeping fat off is more a problem.

while you continue on the creatine your weight will increase, as rob mentioned you will get better workouts , however when you stop taking it kiss goodbye to most of your weight gain .....

Actually what you will loose is the extra water / energy that you held and you are left with only the extra muscle you have build. (not sure how much that is depends on training and what stage someone is in training).

I don't see creatine as a real weight-gainer in my book a weight-gainer is based on getting more calories in the body and so on getting more fat and muscle (muscle only when you exercise too)

So I do agree its mainly a cosmetic fix for the scales.. of course its a great tool for those who train hard.

Only reason that I don't take it is I am focused on my weight and would not know how much weight i gained because of the creatine and how much fat. I know funny reason.
