Increasing Power Supply Wattage Output

Featured Replies

Academic question :

I have a 350 watt power supply in the PC case with fan etc.

I also have an unused 300 watt (max power) spare power supply with fan and all

its plugs and cables .

Is it FEASABLE to piggyback (externaly) this spare PS to the internal 350 watt PS - the motive is

a) to provide the MB and other power consumers more power.

:o to cool this additional PS outside the present case.

Yes, you can. In fact there are certain tower server cases that come with two slots for two PSUs. You just need to know how to wire them up (grounding and power switch) to use them together. Do a search on google, there are plenty of sites with details on the procedure.

hi,

You can do this but if, I suggest for the drives only (HDD, CD-ROM, FDD pp)

If it is a old AT pw, tere will be a switch but if is a ATX PW, you need to short on the 20 Pin MB connector the 3. and 4. connector on the side where orange/blue/black/green/black/black/black/white/red/red connectors are and thats are the black and green one. If you nwant to work so, apply a switch to this two pionts!
