I'm sure this has been covered before and apologies for not being able to find recent threads but I'm about to order an Isuzu truck and have little idea about what window/windscreen film to negotiate inclusion of nor what %ages darkness etc. I intend long term ownership am not concerned about people being able to see in or shallow cosmetic features but rather, functionality in terms of sun /UV protection /longevity and NOT restricting clear vision especially at night. I've heard about 3M and lumina or crystalline but no idea of respective merits vs each other or whether to avoid the standard film the dealer will offer. Please help I'm really "in the dark " and grateful for SPECIFIC advice and whether I should expect to pay the dealer extra or what I can expect to push him for at no extra cost . Oh,and are those external stick on plastic window visors and bonnet bug guards of any real practical value population or just questionable cosmetic add ons?

Do what you like, but do not put anything on the windscreen accept the bit above eye level............Trust me.

If you fit dark stuff on your side windows you will probably have to open them to spot bikes with noooooooo lights at night.

That makes perfect sense ,especially as I HATE anything restricting my vision (there'll be NOTHING dangling from my rear view mirror!) and I dislike the blacked out "gangsta rap " look windows. So now we're getting somewhere what exactly can I get to go on the top bit above eye line on windscreen and what on the side windows that doesn't darken/restrict vision so I can still see those c***s on bikes with no lights yet still maybe reduces the full glare of the sun?

Anything you stick on WILL make a difference to vision, be sure about that. Most rides have a factory tint in the glass, you want to go beyond that really is up to you..........

The misss has 3m film on the windows, cant recall which percentage but it works fine at night spotting anyone and in day time it saves you all the heat from the sun.

Sunglasses work well and except if you are a Blues Brother you can take them off at night. Not sure but perhaps modern plastics have better UV resistance.

If you want a few hours reading put ... window film ... in the search box. As I recall this is the first time this year ... all two months and a few days of it ... that someone has asked this question.

Okay, lets do it again then ....

Modern plastic is total crap even on german cars...

Window tinting is the term to search for here.

You may want 3M Crystal Clear as recommended above to help keep the car cool. Our dealer recommended another product, but we just kept putting it off and are now used to not having any tinting.

Most of the clear ones are good , the extra price over Lamina rubbish,is well worth it.Dealers offering Tint as a freebie shoot themselves in the foot, they infer its worth money, but if you ask for Hi Kool or 3M Crystal on your new ride its then becomes worth only 2K Bht and about 12K ish for good stuff.sad.pngcoffee1.gif

I learned it the expensive way.

The day before my Mazda 2 was due for handover I was at the dealer with my wife.

The dealer does not speak any English, my wife has zero idea about cars.

So I must have missed the hint, that they were going to do such a freebie tint.

Next day I sit in the car and was absolutely terrified!!!

They used a percentage that is absolutely irresponsible.

After the first ride in the dark I knew that I could not use the car in this state any further.

Completely impossible to see any objects that have no light on (you might have seen such wink.png ).

The mood was spoiled.

Going to a specialized shop, removing and putting in HiKool cost me about another 5000 Baht bah.gif

The film fitter will cut a piece to fit just above your line of vision, my film is about 6 inches deep on the screen.

As I am tall I had the windshield upper band tapered up just after the mirror....no sight line problems and helps on the passenger side....

For those who have Lamina ,go take a close look,if its perfectly imperfection free You had a good roll fitted. Sons T/Blazer is a disgrace cant see through the rear window after 2 years, in fairness though they honor there warranty replaced the lot.coffee1.gif
