milioooooons Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Hi, I need to send my Macbook Pro Retina in for logic board replacement due to RAM issues. It's all on warranty so that's good but I can't be without it for the "up to two weeks" it will take to get it back. Does anybody know where I can rent a replacement machine for this period, OR MUCH BETTER, does anybody know where I could get the logic board replaced much faster? Any hints much appreciated.
EyesWideOpen Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I have a macbook pro I am not using. It has the the 2.6 gig processor, 8 gigs of ram, and a SSD drive. I am in Pattaya. 1
milioooooons Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Thanks. I'm in Bangkok though - won't make it down there...
bubba Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Try eBay. I get parts off of eBay, have them shipped here and then go to a shop for installation. I just did that for a keyboard on a Macbook Air. The part cost US$25 on eBay (plus about $25 for shipping from the USA) and installation cost at a local shop was 1000 baht. That is against 17,000 baht as quoted to me by an official Apple repair centre. But one note and you probably already realise this: buying a logic board and having it installed on your own will certainly void your remaining warranty.
