Northern provinces continue to be covered in haze

BANGKOK, 16 March 2015 (NNT) – Provinces in the northern region of Thailand are still experiencing above standard haze issue, while hot spots have been detected in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand, according to the MNRE.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) has detected hot spots that could be the cause of wildfires in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand.

The current haze situation in northern Thailand is still above the standard level, especially in Mae Hong Son province.

The MNRE’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Suphot Tovichakchaikul today said that 291 hotspots have been detected in the 50 provinces in the north and northeastern region of Thailand, resulting in the ongoing haze situation in many areas, especially in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Lampang province.

He said that the Pollution Control Department has been ordered to closely monitor the situation, while the public is also asked to refrain from any burning activity in open spaces to help reduce the particulate matter in the air.

"while the public is also asked to refrain from any burning activity in open spaces to help reduce the particulate matter in the air"

Keep on asking, year in year out, and the problem is solved...

Can't think of another solution? Hint: how do the Saudis solve crimes of theft?

............ordered to monitor the situation.........What the Hell is that going to do......What happened to areal assault with water sprayed? What came of that?......How many mushrooms have they collected?.....Put a stop to the sales of these mushrooms when they cross the border. They should be banned. ....And anyone selling distributing or collecting these mushrooms should pay a heavy fine, and all mushrooms confiscated.

my neighbor is burning, so should i , mentality

My Thai friend told me that in the 1960s the Sino-Thai on Rattanakosin Island would, every new year, burn their shop-houses down to collect the insurance money. The military government of the time finally stepped in and summarily shot several of them and the practice stopped. I think they probably can't do that in this day and age but really, only drastic/draconian measures will stop these burners because, for them, it is a tradition; never mind there are ten times as many people living in the area who are affected by the smog.

"How many mushrooms have they collected?.....Put a stop to the sales of these mushrooms when they cross the border."

Huh? What?

First of all, mushrooms only sprout in the rainy season.

Maybe they could stake out Big C. I notice all of the mushrooms they sell are imported from China.

Third, what does mushrooms have to do with air pollution?????
