Single Entry ED Visa - can fly out & get re-entry permit from airport

Featured Replies

If you have a single entry ED visa, are you able to fly out & get a re-entry permit from the airport? Or will the ED visa be automatically be cancelled when leaving Thailand?

A reentry permit is available at the two Bangkok airports.

The permit will allow reentry to Thailand but only up the the " permitted to stay date" given on first entering the country.

What about if you've already done a 90 day extension that expires at the end of May? Which would make it about being 6 months on the ED visa as of the end of May.

The reentry permit will allow a return up to the "permitted to stay" date which is clearly visible in the passport.

re-entry do not increase the length of validity of your Visa

The permitted to stay date would be the date stamped at my last 90 day extension of stay, making it the end of May. Therefore if I get a re-entry permit from the airport then I can come back before the end of May & continue on my current ED visa.

You do not have a visa, You have an extension of stay based upon attending school.

You can get a re-entry permit that will keep your extension valid when you re-enter the country which in your case will be the end of May.

Ok thanks. So if I were to come back after the end of May, I'd need to get a new ED visa then.

If you enter after the re-entry permit expires you would only get a visa exempt entry if you qualify for it. You extension would of already expired then.

You would then have to go out for an new non-ed visa.

That's what I thought, thanks.

Where at Suvarnabhumi do you get the re-entry permits from?

There is a desk for them just before the normal departure immigration (not fast track) desks when you get off the escalator.

Get re-entry permit BEFORE you leave or yes your visa will be voided.
