Mae Had is in the North West, the airport to come is in the East

A recent picture would be useful.... !

I've not been over there for a number of weeks, but presume, it's to the south of Mae Haad beach / Koh Ma at the far end of the beach... there is a rough road that goes up, that has been there for years....

There has been work on and off for years, ruining the hillside ...

Birdman is correct the Airport is on the east coast side...

Yes sorry no pic and yes is south end of mae haad they have been digging it out for few years. No body seems to no. even locals I have asked... they have cut a massive bit out of the hill right to the top. Seems that both ends of koh maa mae haad have not been lucky with half the hill been cut out one side and a failed attempt to build a resort on the other side.. Still nice beach tho

Yes, that ruining the hillside first started on my second visit to the area, on the lower part, where the big beach connects with the nice smaller beach, back in about 2005, then was abandoned, I think due to local pressure... I looked though my pictures, but don't seem to have any images, of what is going on above. The road going in the is after the bridge near the Elephant, Crocodile farm... the down hill run used to be quite rough to the small beach.... not for the average tourist to try going down!

Obviously local government has changed to allow what is going on now, then (?) .... It could turn into another abandoned bunch of building starts, like several in the road leading to Mae Haad.... on the right side... sad.png

Changes are coming to the area, the area across the road as you come out (or turn in) to Mae Haad road, has been cleared for the building or moving huts from Island View Cabana, (now part of Haad Salad Buri Resort) .... to be used as staff lodging... They were supposed to start that move last year, but is rescheduled to be done some time this year... (maybe!whistling.gif )....
