Now i'm considered a whiz with pc's but today i encountered 2 instances of net cut,on touching my usb dongle it was flaming hot,wel i did all the scans including sfc /scannow without any hiccups, so on removing said dongle and letting it cool down and then reinserted,my pc recognised and reinstalled drivers so up and running on the web again.so the puzzling thing is this being the first time of any such hiccups with net access,so ideas pls and yes my laptop is sat on 2 cooling fans.

A 3G or 4G Aircard (aka: Internet dongle) can get hot when transferring data at the highest speeds. Then, sometimes, they just get off in a loop and convert current into heat.

Looks like you got the problem reset with the proper procedure.
