Sewing Awl

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a hand stitcher or sewing awl. One that uses waxed, heavy duty thread. I realize this might be like trying to find a needle in a haystack (pun intended) but I sure could use one. Anyone know of a (sewing supply) place that might have this? It is for hand stitching very heavy material, such as webbing. Thanks, pgpost-137826-0-11526300-1428313849_thumb.post-137826-0-75933300-1428313913_thumb.

If I were looking for such a thing, I'd start at a shop called Kul, in the Warorot market area. I don't know if they'd have it, I'm just saying that's where'd I'd start. I'd probably bring a photo, too.

You can use the search function for this forum with the word "Kul" to locate directions and even a photo of the front of the Kul shop, which incidentally is pronounced "Kun" not Kool, in Thai.

Another option is Marine Chandlers down south as it's a cruising yachties must have. Phuket have online site and sales.

In English they write "Kul," but in Thai it's actually pronounced "Goon." Here's a streetview of their storefront. Keep in mind, though, you gotta be really skinny to get around in this jam-packed, crammed-full-of-all-kinds-of-notions-and-whatnots store. The clerks are very helpful and friendly.

Thanks to everyone....you've been incredibly helpful. I had thought of leather shops, but not chandlers...great idea. I will be checking all those places out in CM, as soon as we get a chance. Thanks again, everyone. pg

How about buying on the internet?

E-bay is filled with offers for this particular awl, many of them with free shipping. E-bay has become a safe, reliable, and dependable method of on-line shopping, with complete buyer protection.
