Bonanza Khao Yai intrudes vast forest reserve and agricultural land reform areas

BANGKOK: -- Bonanza Resort Khao Yai has intruded vast areas of Khao Yai national park and agricultural land reform areas in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima and will face forced eviction, according to land reform officer.

The agricultural land reform officer of Nakhon Ratchasima province, Mr Chamnan Klinchan, disclosed of the extensive land intrusion of Bonanza Golf and Country Club, operator of Bonanza Resort Khao Yai, after aerial and global positioning system (GPS) surveys by various relevant government agencies have been completed.

He said it became clear cut now that the Bonanza resort has intruded a total of 166 rais of forest reserves and agricultural reform lands and public water ways after the surveys of land claimed to be legitimately held by the resort.

He said he would forward all evidences and documents to the police to file charges against the owner of the resort.

He said the Agricultural Land Reform Office had earlier lodged complaint of land intrusion against the resort owner on April 8 with the police.

The police are gathering evidence to charge the owner and force the eviction of all facilities in the intruded areas.

The officer said in addition to criminal charges to be filed against the owner, civil suits will also be filed to demand compensation and reclaim all the intruded areas from the owner.

It was expected that the police could file charges against the owner of Bonanza resort by the end of this month, he said.

There will be tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth over dinner at many of these locations.

It seems rather a shame that these owners resorted to underhand activities to produce what does seem to be a very pleasant group of facilities.

Perhaps, with the exception of the speedway?

There ae few of these up there and they are done really well.

Couldn't they just "chop off" the bits that were outside thier land ?

Who owns this anyway?

It is good to see the recovery of national forest lands. Hooray for the general.

So no information about the involvement of government officials .... waitingcoffee1.gif

Interesting link - at the bottom of the first photo text reads - adjacent to the Asean heritage Khoa Yai's finest places

Adjacent!!

Maybe it should be repurposed to an environmental education and reafforestation centre.

"Bonanza Resort Khao Yai has intruded vast areas of Khao Yai national park and agricultural land reform areas ..."

"...Bonanza resort has intruded a total of 166 rais of forest reserves and agricultural reform lands..."

That's 66 acres, or 26 hectare. "Vast"?

I went to google maps, satellite view. The Bonanza site is in an area dominated by agricultural, with some relatively small pockets of forest land. The main forest is well to the south.

If they infringed, so be it. But I'm guessing there is more to this focus on Bonanza.

He said he would forward all evidences and documents to the police to file charges against the owner of the resort.

my advice: make a copy

When Bonanza goes down I certainly hope they will take all those white jackets with them.

Hope they take back the land and chuck the guilty in jail

Guess we will see how influential the owners are

Is that all? And who were the public servants who "gave" permission to use the land? Should they be punished as well? Or should we just have selective justice? whistling.gif

Like I said chuck the guilty in jail

If there are public servants who are complicit in this then they should be tried and if found guilty ... jail
