Pakistani woman dies after early morning incident at five-star Phuket resort

PHUKET: -- A woman from Pakistan died at Thalang Hospital in the early hours of this morning after slashing her wrist and falling into the swimming pool of a five-star resort in Mai Khao.

At 4:20am, Thalang police received a call from Thalang Hospital stating that a Pakistani woman who had fallen into the swiiming pool of a resort in Mai Khao had died in the emergency room.

After checking the body of the 27-year-old victim (name witheld until her family have been notified), police found that she had a slash wound on her left wrist. They stated that there appeared to be no sign of foul play and she had been dead for around an hour.

Police learned that Kusoldharm rescue workers had taken the woman from the resort after a lifeguard found her lying at the bottom of the pool.

When she was recovered from the pool the woman was still conscious but was having difficulty breathing. Rescure workers carried out CPR and took her to hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

A doctor from the hospital stated the the woman had probably been at the bottom of the pool for a long time before the guard spotted her.

After gathering information from staff at the hotel, police learned that the woman had travelled to Phuket with her boyfriend and arrived at the hotel several days ago.

Prior to the incident, the woman and her boyfriend had a fight in their room. As the boyfriend left the room the woman was throwing various items at him.

Hotel staffs believe that the woman used a piece of broken glass to slash her wrist before going out to look for her boyfriend. It was then that the woman fell into the pool.

The woman̕s boyfriend is said to be in a state of shock. He is currently being looked after by hotel staff and nurses and police will wait to question him about the incident.

The victim̕s body is being kept at Thalang Hospital awaiting repatriation home.

Very sad, only 27 yrs old. RIP. Two thing come to mind on the investigation. 1) Does the trail of blood start at the room and lead to the pool? 2) this is a 5 star resort so I would think they have security camera's on the pool area and maybe the hallways and can see her falling into the pool? Not an investigation question, would someone bleeding that much in the pool be a need to empty it or just chemicals?

A doctor from the hospital stated the the woman had probably been at the bottom of the pool for a long time

When she was recovered from the pool the woman was still conscious but was having difficulty breathing.

Well “doctor”, your definition of long time could need a little explanation, considering the time an average person can live without breathing.
