Lots of nice roads to travel in the area, this is between Ranot and Ban Khaw....

Just watch out for other bike riders!

If you have a mountain bike, the dirt trail along Songkhla Lake from Ranode down through Sathing Phra is a really nice ride.

It's not a dirt track...it's the main road that travels down the east side of the lake...not to be confused with the coastal road (Hwy 408)

..and a rare type of landscape along the way too...paddy fields dotted with toddy palms.

Cycling has become big down here in the last year or two.

Many upmarket bicycle shops have opened in the past year in Hat Yai.

It IS a dirt road, runs parallel to Rt 4009. but right along the lake: shady and almost no traffic.

From the north, it starts at the sluicegate at the mouth of Klong Ranode, which I have indicated with an orange circle.

There are many small roads to cut back to the main road if you have had enough.

Be careful if you go into the countryside, lots of snakes there, including monocular cobra.

Well biking seems to be fine... on the 401...early morning and late afternoon riders continue on with their pace lines.
