TAT launches 'The Best of Thailand Awards Voted By Chinese Tourists' Project

BANGKOK, 7 May 2015 (NNT) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand has launched a new project to allow Chinese tourists to vote for their favourite destinations in the Land of Smiles.

TAT Deputy Governor Juthaporn Rerngronasa on Tuesday officially opened the “The Best of Thailand Awards Voted By Chinese Tourists” project which has been designed to attract more travellers from Asia’s number-one economy to Thailand.

The project has also been initiated to be a PR engine for Thailand’s tourist destinations popular among Chinese holidaymakers.

The TAT joined hands with allies within the tourism industry and operators of famous social online services in China to introduce this new initiative.

Project participants can vote for tourist spots and service establishments which are on the top of many Chinese search engines. These places are such as hospitals, airlines, accommodations and restaurants.

中国人不受欢迎 That the translates into "Chinese not welcome". And I do not care if it is racist or not; they behave like pigs. No manners, rude, dirty and after they leave you can start renovating everything. But if TAT provides clean-up staff removing full pampers from dining tables, well then we can look at things, provided the brethren of the mainland are willing to pay for everything. Enclosed picture shows used pampers on the seat and on the floor; the third one was removed disgustingly from the table prior to taking the picture. I - for one - just LOVE Chinese business wai2.gif

Regardless of Chinese tourist behavior, they do bring a lot to Thai economy.

If Thailand was as smart as Canada, they could be advertising condos and real estate to Chinese and then you could really see economy pick up.

Chinese seem to love Pattaya and to be honest they could really transform this city where Russians have left off.

You're partly right. But, the rich ones don't really buy real estate in Pattaya or elsewhere in Thailand ! The rich ones turn up at places like Australia, London, and Canada, and buy real estate, yes.

But yes, even though the ones who turn up in Thailand don't spend a lot per person, they still contribute to Thailand's economy. The numbers of Chinese tourists going to to Thailand will increase considerably in the next decade. The number of Chinese tourists in Thailand might double in the next six years, if not, then ten years. New hotels are going to have to be built to cater for the big increase, and surely, more Thais will be employed in those hotels.

The Chinese with money are too busy getting tourist visas to the United States to have American born babies to bother with Thailand. Instead of the cheap trips to Thailand, they spend $30,000 USD for Birth Tourism which is a better investment than a trip to the land of scams.
