i go to renew my one year driving license last week and am told that because i have a tourist visa i have to renew the license on the day it expires not before

i front up at 7am this morning and mill about the door for about an hour as various people push their way in, once the doors open people run up the stairs, i get to the info counter am given a renewal form and sent to counter 28 to check if i am color blind, im then told go back to the info counter, i go back show the lady my form and she tells me i have to rejoin the queue up to get ticket for the next counter

rejoin a queue which is now three wide snaking to the back of the room and down both flights of stairs about 150-200 people

why could i not have been given a ticket for the payment counter by the people who administer the colour blind test? why is everything in this country done in such a stupid manner? absolutely ridiculous

Always allow at least half a day for driving licence renewal.

Agreed. Plus it has always been required that the 1 year (provisional) license need to have expired before renewing though a few have been able to do it before. Also nothing to do with being a tourist visa, Non-imm requirements are the same.
