Hi All,

I'm in te market for a new phone. I like Samsung and will probably stick with them (have all the chargers etc. and know the menus etc.).

Currently I'm using an S4, but its a bit beaten up. Time for a new one.

I was looking at the Note 4 or S6 online, then I went to the shop today and saw a new model - the A7. I liked the look and feel of it. Seemsin between the S6 and Note 4 in terms of size. But what Ireally like was Dual Sim. I have two phones, so this would be great to consolidate into one handset.

Notwithstanding the dual sim aspects, is the A7 comaprable to the S6 and Note 4 for every day use. I am not a technology genious - I use my phone mainly for taking photo's, face book, Line & whats app, email, I play a couple of games, and of course phone calls. I am sure that the S6 and Note 4 are cutting edge, but it seems to me like I'm buying a BMW M3, when all I do is drop te kids to school and go shopping (so a BMW 3.20 would suffice, and I'd never notice the difference).I'd be happy if the A7 was just a little bit of an improvement on the S4 in terms of performance and camera - in order to keep up with the times.

I'd really appreciate peoples comments.

THanks in advance.

Interesting.

I have adopted a new tactic, where the phone is just a phone, and everything else is now done on my tablet, namely a samsung tab s 8.4

Look if the phone is waterproof, battery can be changed and MicroSD can be used.

S5 had that all, S6 looks good but doesn't has it. MicroSD is a must for me, waterproof is also good.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Well the main attraction to this model is the dual sim. Previsouly when I looked at dual sim phones they were generally "budget" phones with poor quality camera. This one however looks like it can hold its own against the main stream S-series etc. - at least for the realtively basic tasks that I use it for. From what I can gather the camera in the A7 is better than the S4 (which I currently have) and I've happy with the S4. Screen resolultion doens't matter much to me - I don't watch movies on my phone and never will.

As far as keeping the phone as a phone, and a tablet for else. Good idea, but generally wouldn't work for me. I like to pull my phone out and have a quick check of emails and messages on the move (5 minutes between meetings, in the back of a cab or on the BTS, and other 5 minute intervals on the move.

Some heating problems reported by some users on gsmarena. Also you can use the additional slot for either a second sim or sd card but not both.
