Is Metformin or Glucophage available in thailand? Specifically Bangkok

Or is there a generic version - metformin hydrochloride

And which brands do i look for?

thank you everyone

Yes, widely available and cheap. Generic is 300 baht for 500 x 500 mg tablets (Medicpharma brand).

What isn't available is 1000 mg tablets.

Sorry. Never been to Pattaya.

Hmm... I pay 4.30 Baht per 850mg tab for Glucophage brand tablets at Fascino in Pattaya. I take two per day.

The Medicpharma Brand are way cheaper. If I understand correctly, 500 tabs for 300 Baht works out at 0.60 Baht per tab.

So even if I took three 500 mg tabs per day it would still only be 1.80 Baht per day, against 8.60 Baht for Glucophage.

I wonder if they sell them at Fascino?

But on second thoughts, I'm only talking 180 Baht more a month..... not worth worrying too much about.

Thank you everyone. You all are lifesavers

Are both Immediate release and XR available. I'm looking for immediate release

What would i search for ?

Immediate release is what is available in local brands. the only XR I am aware of is Glucophage which comes in both forms, immediate and extended.

You will really not have a problem re metformin, it is one of the most commonly sold drugs. However if you are relocating here be advised that blood glucose tests strips are very costly, bring a good supply with you.
