Suvarnabhumi gears up for MERS

BANGKOK: -- Suvarnabhumi Airport has installed body heat scanners staffed by health department workers to monitor arrivals for infection with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.

No cases of the disease have been reported in Thailand, but as a busy destination and transit hub, the airport is taking precautions for MERS in collaboration with Department of Disease Control to limit the chance of the virus entering Thailand.

Medical teams are also visibly monitoring arrivals from countries affected by the virus, airport manager Sirote Duangratana said.
