masuk
Gather as many as you can, keep then until their wings drop off, get out the wok and stir fry. Traditional Northern Thai delicacy. No I've never tried it but a Lanna restaurant nearby offers these, or red ants.

chiang mai
Er, um, termites look slightly different, what you've pictured are Mayflies/Fish flies or similar, they swarm in order to breed in very short timescales, a termite is something else entirely. http://www.wikihow.com/Identify-a-Termite

hawksway
They are not termites - rather they are flying ants who live for only a few hours. You could sweep them up an get a nice Isan Lady to cook them in a nice sticky sauce!

masuk
The nice fat, juicy flying ants are Termites looking for sex. Talking of building out of wood, houses built in termite prone areas in a lot of Australia use steel instead of timber.
Vipercatcher
Look like swarming termites to me, same as we get here in Aus.
Thaijack2014
Don't eat them, as they contain too much cholesterol. That's what some Thai people told me. Last time they came to my place, my pond was full... my fish are too small to eat them. So I had a few hours of work to get the dead bodies out of from the pond. Sophon
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayfly The insects from the OP are definitely termites and look nothing like Mayflies up close. Mayflies are slender while termites are plump in comparison. I could be wrong, but I also don't think that Mayflies shed their wings like the termites (and ants) do. keithathome
Free food ! Get a tray, wet it and wave it about in the horde, shake off into a bowl (with a lid to stop them crawling out) and repeat, when enough, wok, hot oil and spices, flash fry the wings off.
