App that translates English to Thai suitable for smart phones?

Featured Replies

Does anyone use an app that translate English into Thai to send trext messages or on messaging apps such as Line, Skype etc? Also it should work visa versa and allow Thai to be translated into English.

Are there any apps that will translate Thai into English from a photograph? For instance a photograph of a document in Thai? Or a photography of a text message in Thai?

Thank you for your reply.

These may point you in the right direction:

Maybe Word Lens.

For speech iTranslate.

Maybe paste into Google translate.

Accuracy of most of these type of apps leaves a lot to be desired.

So true.

OCR for Thai script: I have done some experiments and given up quickly (Google has it in its cloud software).

The tiny little markers and subtle differences between Thai characters make it very hard.

And without understanding and mastering the script (doing manual corrections) you will be lost.

Since decades they work on automatic translation with modest results.

The company that has it right will earn three digit billions.

Relying on automatic translators can give terrible results.

Sometimes it ends up with garbage or even worse with the exact opposite of what you wanted to say.

I tried using google translate .I would show my son in law and he didn't understand what I was trying to say when reading it.

I have found that you have to break it down into each word. Which still isn't perfect but better than doing a whole sentence.
