We recently revealed plans to sink a decommissioned Thai Naval Vessel off the coast of Pattaya which will create a new tourist attraction and will help to nurture marine wildlife in the area. On Saturday morning the ship finally arrived at its destination from Samut Prakan Province.

The ship will be sunk near Sark Island, some 2kms off the coast of Pattaya. The vessel is called “Gud” and is 57 years old; it was taken out of service in 2004. As the boat was put into position for sinking a final inspection of the vessel was made and we joined Vice Admiral Jamnong, Marine Commander and Rear Admiral Tawiwoot, the Chief of Staff both from Sattahip navy base, as they surveyed the area in a helicopter to ensure that the boat had been maneuvered into the correct position.

A thumbs up from both Admirals was given and the boat will now be sunk during a special event to be held at the Bali Hai Port on Saturday Night organized to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the Throne.
