Any bike "Vehicle Roadworthy Certificate" Inspection Centres on Vised Road near Rawai Hardware / Seashell Museum?

My bike is 7 years old next month. Never had it tested before, which is odd because some web sites say it must be done after 5 years. huh.png

There is a vehicle and bike inspection station in Rawai just off Viset Rd, past the Seashell Museum on the same side as you head towards the sea. It has a yellow sprocket sign out on Viset. Turn down the small soi and it's on the right. He does registration and insurance too.

Or simply use the one provided earlier, they do it all, including the yearly sticker.

Excellent! thumbsup.gif Just found it on Google Earth. Must've driven past it in my pick-up hundreds of times!

It's easy to miss if you don't know about it! Been using the old guy for many years. Now his chubby kid or nephew does the inspections. He hates my old 2 stroke bike and makes me take it to my buddies shop just up the road to get the serial number tape rub! Ah well, life could be worse! Glad you found it, saves a lot of time and he's fair.

I usually let my insurance agent do the registration and Por Rob Bor for both the pickup and bike as I don't like handing over the reg. books to people I don't know.

Probably OTT, but better safe than sorry. wink.png

(I also don't like handing over my passport at immigration without getting a receipt. biggrin.png)

2-stroke! ohmy.png Aren't they illegal? All that half-burnt oil and stuff spewing out the back... biggrin.png

No, they aren't illegal as long as they pass the tests. But they don't make them anymore and they are fun to ride! A bit noisy though.

Do they have to pass an emissions test? whistling.gif

Yes. My bike had and passed an emission test, but I'm sure there's loads of them that never get tested or licensed and insured.

After 5 years for bike and after 7 yeras for car/truck.

But the officials don't often check/count back.

Could also be that it has done only 3,440km w00t.gif, although I doubt that the officials know that.

Lots of bikes pass any test you can mention and still get "approved", even when they fail.

Yes, even 30 or 40 year old ancient relics classics like your Honda Cubs. whistling.gif

(Only joking)

Yup.

One of them doesn't have a chain guard. Last two years they insisted I buy one, which I did, then took it back off.

Told the story to my regular bike mechanic. He said he would get the inspection done and the tax disk with no problems at no extra cost.

Sure enough...........

Anyone want to buy a chain guard for a Honda Cub?

Hardly used and going cheap.

I'm surprised you managed to find one for your ancient bikes. Is there an "ancient bike enthusiasts" club around here?

(The garage fixing my pickup can't even find a Carryboy bull guard the same as my one that got damaged.)

There are two, or three shops that sell spares for Honda Cubs and without exception spares are cheaper than for modern Honda Dreams.

The spares aren't made by Honda, but by small factories dotted around Thailand.

Yes, lots of clubs for Vespas and Lambrettas. A club for Honda Chalys (monkey bike) and also for Cubs.

They usually meet once a month at Sapan Hin.

Very common with chain guards, they simply put one on for the check and remove it again afterwards.

Went there today. Can't believe there's a full size rolling road for testing car brakes down that little soi!

Anyway, 720 baht, pick up reg. book Friday. (It was going to be 600 baht until he saw it was a 135cc bike.)

Stupid bike - the serial number is underneath the strong metal handle at the back of the seat, used for lifting the back end. So that has to be removed for the guy to do the serial number tape rub. facepalm.gif

I think that's where I'll be going for my pick-up testing too. Very handy!
