Prayut denies planning to abolish free healthcare to save money for buying submarines
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Sunday denied that his government planned to abolish the free universal healthcare programme so that it would have money for buying three submarines.

Upon returning from Japan, Prayut said the proposed procurement has nothing to do with the universal healthcare because it has been studied for years.

He said the government did not plan to discontinue the healthcare programme but the government simply did not have enough money to expand the health services.

If they buy 3 Subs, they better buy a deep sea recovery vessel as well,

as it would just be an accident waiting to happen.

Surely common sense would say health service first, but this is Thailand.

Buying Subs?

What is there to know.

Can you imagine if there was a representative Parliament, how they would be pilloried. They could forget about ever being re-elected.

If there is a security policy that legitimizes submarines for Thailand, I would love to see it.

As # 8 above states "I think, Thailand is actually a rich country", but nevertheless, a country full of poor people, where children are the pension plan, security is very important I suppose.

Well propaganda from marxist side.... If Taksin do something why Isaan remains the poorest region thailand ?

Why during YL regime no poor farmer receive payment of their rice crop ? Why only landlords proxy to his camp receive benefit from rice scheme ?

Why Taksin not use is personal fortune for help poorest area of Thailand ? Why Taksin and is camp use vote buying ?

Why he want to transform a constitutional monarchy to fascist dictatorship “republic” under Thaksin Shinwatra rules ?

Correct.

All Govt. entities and Departments would be trying to do exactly as you say.

But in Mature Democracies, the annual budget is presented with an eye to the next election, and to put a stamp of their own ideology on policies going forward.

Not sure submarine purchases would advance that objective, other than the ideological one.

Can you imagine if the Lumpini PDRC had instead spent all that energy convincing the electorate of their take on things in an election. Urged the electorate to "turf the bums", and presented their own policies and direction, including submarines if they wanted.

That would have been much better for everyone.

All of above points taken directly from the Opposition playbook, and their orchestrated Thaksin demonization campaign.

If all that was true, take it to the electorate. Convince them of all this stuff.

The fact they were afraid to do that, is all one needs to know, to put it in perspective.

"Actually the poor's lot did improve vastly since he first took power."

Yes it did, and if space permitted, one could list significant evidence supporting it. The FACTS as mentioned.

Many Thai's, other than those linked to the Bangkok-centric elite whose governing hegemony was threatened by Thaksin's policies, will list out for anyone interested, the pre and Post Thaksin differences and evidence of this.

Hard evidence, and not fearful Opposition outpourings contained in their demonization campaign against Thaksin. A campaign they launched to try and legitimize themselves. Their primary vehicle being the judiciary, hoping it would lend credibility to their political stuff and motivations.

But at the head of this long list, #1 is always the 30-baht hospital program.

Just love your posting name "Bannum Opinions"

Ban everyone's opinion except yours and the drivel you continue to spew in support of a corrupt family run former dynasty.

I would love to see the poorer people of this country get a better deal in the true socialist ideal fashion...but not at the expense of the neo dictatorship the Shinawatras wished to impose.

Anyone who still supports the failed Shinawatra model is either foolish or a full blown communist...as many of their supporters were and still are....for all the wrong reasons (think old Joe Stalin absolute rule).

The sad part about it all is that the misguided true believers from "the old country" think they are truly important in their cause in Thailand.

Just quietly ..you are not and will be chewed up and spat out the same as any other farang in the bigger scheme of things.

as with most of the posters without any objectivity, it is necessary to point out the vote-buying did not affect the outcome of the 2011 elections.

But it should be noted that the current "PM" was working at the time to influence the results with subtle "hints" on how people should vote.... Not sure if military threats constitute a good environment for "free and fair" elections...

As to your point about paying farmers, it wasn't just that the government was hamstrung by protests, but that Suthep, his allies, and the PDRC protesters were actively blocking the payment to the farmers.

some posters do not actually have a good grasp of current events in Thailand, ... but they post anyway. laugh.png
