Short Term Visa - Australia

Featured Replies

On what to do for a short term Visa so I can bring a friend over for Christmas for 2 weeks in Australia. They live in Chiang Mai. I can support them while they are here and no problem with me paying for the airfare.

Could someone advise of an agent or someone who can help my friend in Chiang Mai to help us get this worked out.

Thanks

Click here and read about tourist visas, and visa options.

Flicking through the various pages should provide all the answers for you, if not, post further questions in this thread.

It is really not that hard....the keystone is showing that you have known the person for at least 6 months....photos, letters, e mails, phone bills etc....are generally the best used evidence. Supply also a Stat Dec saying that you have known the person for X amount of time, that you will support them while they are here in terms of transport, accommodation, medical and general living expenses. That you will ensure the applicant abides by the visa conditions and you are aware of the penalties for making a false declaration ($10,000 and /or 3 years Jail) Include a photocopy of your drivers licence also as you will be sponsoring them.

If they are working then a letter from their boss ensuring a job to return to would assist.

If you look at the website MM gave you then read the 48R form you will have a good idea about what is required.

Thanks Vinny that is what I've been trying to find. Always thought it was strange that I couldn't find an Australian Consulant in Chiang Mai. :D
