Interesting, they write in the bottom (in small letters) get 20.000 baht discount for Ford owner(s).

That's standard - not a limited time promotion. If you already own a Ford, you get a standard discount on any other Fords you buy.

I also thought I read there was a discount for civil servants...?

Most makes have either special discounts or special finance schemes for gov't employees of a high enough rank.

Why don't buy a normal 1.6 liter Fiesta. All those small turbo engines will have problems in the future, specially in TH, where they be raced. Better more cubic than turbo. The 1.6 doesn't use more fuel, and has more torque. Top model S in good condition one owner cars and low mileage, can get between 350 to 420'k, for a decent one. Remember: Top models "S" (for Sport) have the dual transmission.

so what your saying is if the OP does not race the vehicle it will be perfectly fine, thanks for the clarification.

thanks both for your suggestions!

well i seriously doubt i can race in this little 1.0 turbo!!!

i'm a fan of engine technology and always have been pro-turbo... although i do appreciate the additional value for buying second hand 1.6 top spec model for less!

i suppose it's a trade off to some extent... pay a lot more.. but get it spanking new... free insurance for one year... longer servicing/warranty period... at the cost of bearing depreciation of a new vehicle...

i take extremely good care of my vehicles (at least internally).. i'm not too particular about exterior paint condition all the time... especially in thailand!

i intend to tune up the car after the warranty period is over... minor tune up and exhaust.. perhaps even fit a bov.. come on admit it! all of us guys who want turbo cars.. is not so much for anything but the bov sound... but i'd like to do it tastefully!!

anyway thanks for everyone's feedback! i will still go check out the mazda 2 1.5l turbo diesel... smile.png

Well the 1.0 turbo isn't slow and faster than just about every other 1.6-2.0 mass market car you can find in Thailand... 0-100 in 8.4 seconds is pretty quick for the money you pay. Only the nissan pulsar turbo is quicker, but that's about a million baht. The 1.0 has some tuning options but from what I read, not much more can be gotten out from exhaust/intake mods. It flows pretty well as it is. It will be quicker than a mazda 2 diesel, but the diesel should give (a little) better economy.

Why bother with more HP on that engine? It's already pretty hard pumped as it is, almost like a motorcycle engine, well not quite.

I wonder how many km an engine like that can go without opening it up? 2-300k km under normal usage?

I've seen it modded up to 140hp or so. HP per litre it's already better than a honda s2000. But who knows how long it will last? I don't think I'd buy one second hand for sure:)

i've always preferred hatchbacks too! however i feel that the sedan may be more 'practical' in the sense,, i get the feeling it is more spacious and makes the car look bigger? for the money we spend anyway?

maybe it's just perspective... but i'm looking to get the sedan model :)

Hi,hired a Fiesta auto(double clutch) in uk for a month last summer. What a great drive. No turbo lag, gearbox a bit jerky compared to old style auto but very ok.

I had to open the bonnet to see if a 3 or the old 4 cyl, could not tell driving.Would love one,but have 3 year old Focus(also very good)
