The theft of gold necklaces by motorbike gangs continue apace here in Pattaya. We now report on two cases which presented themselves at Pattaya Police Station at the same time, both involved foreigners.

The first victim is Mr. Douglas Taylor aged 39 from America who had his silver necklace taken from around his neck as he drove his motorbike in Jomtien. Ms. Sandra Haeberli aged 50 also from America, had her 3 Baht weighted gold necklace taken at the front of Soi 6 on Pattaya Beach Road. Both cases involved two suspects on one motorbike.

Police tell us that both cases are unconnected. One man has been arrested in connection with the theft of the silver necklace; Khun Katchara aged 19 who confessed to the crime. His accomplice managed to elude capture.

We strongly recommend everyone, whether you are Thai or a foreigner not to wear items of value around Pattaya at night or during the day at this time until Police manage to control this form of theft.
