This morning was the start of Freshers week in CM

Featured Replies

And it started at dawn this morning with a walk for everyone up the mountain to Wat Doi Suthep.

Absolute nightmare trying to get up or down in a vehicle, but fun for the students with perfect walking weather.

I estimate about three thousand participants, drums, brass band, flags and students two lanes wide and 5 Kilometers long.

I live on Suthep Rd.

My Holiday is now over as the streets will now be full of masses of newbies on foot, in cars and m/cycles.

Gone is the easy parking of our Holiday time and we are back into the local traffic jams of morning start and evening 'rush' for home.

Looks like a young (and happier) Kim Jong-un in the middle of the last picture. Or maybe its just the haircut.....

Well, you did choose to live near the university in one of the worst traffic parts of town...

Get a bicycle, cheap to run, good for your health, and traffic is no problem.

Get a bike.

See the Children are out again, a bike at my age.

Probably the most dangerous form of transport in CM.

Their owners actually have their own Rules of the road known only to them and the rest of us should conform.

Well at least all agree the roads will get worse, was a nice place when I moved in.

Well, I'm 60 and cycle up Huay Keow Rd. to Wat Doi Suthep or Puping Palace and back nearly every day (rain allowing).

How old are you?

My older brother is 74 and I am a couple of years younger.

He has been a keen Bike rider since his youth.

I have lost count of number of times he has 'come off' his bike in his later years.

Perhaps if I had been riding since I was a youth I might still do so.
However I went Motor bike at 16 and car later.

Do you have a copy or web reference for the ultra secret Code of the Road for Bicycle users ?

From UK to the Continent (Europe) and Thailand, cyclist all seem to know the Bikers only code of road use.

I assume that as a responsible user of the road you have Third Party Insurance cover and do make a donation for upkeep of the roads you use.
