PATTAYA: -- Police were called to a house in the Bang Sai area, close to Pattaya, on Tuesday afternoon, following the discovery of an abandoned child, thought not to be a Thai national.

The owner of the house, Khun Bungit aged 43, was cleaning when she spotted the child, thought to be aged no older than 1 ½ years old, sleeping on her doorstep. She attempted to communicate with the child who did not speak and appeared not to understand what was being said to her.

The child’s body was not clean and small marks, thought to be mosquito bites were seen on her legs and arms.

Before all you bashers get excited, have you considered the fact that may be mother or parents do not have the money and decided to leave the child AT A HOUSE in hope baby will have a better life ?

They did not dump baby on the road or jungle , but left her at a house,ie in hope so one in better position will find her and care for her.

Looks like Burmese or Cambodian baby.

Though you have a point mate, why bother having a baby in the first place. A few ways you could look at this really.

Same reason why many people have 5 kids yet can not afford to raise one.

Well we can all criticize and scold the mother of this baby, but we don't know the circumstances which led to this ..

she is obviously traumatized and this maybe was her absolute last resort ... maybe the father died or something bad just recently happened. Maybe she was ill .... who knows ... !!

Many Thai mothers abandon their babies at the foundation for homeless kids in Bangkok, it just doesn't make the news.

Breaks my heart to read this, but like a few posters have said, we don't know the circumstances..

maybe the parents were desperate financially or it was a young single mother, at least they had the Gumption to leave it at someone's door.., rather than

just abandon it ...

The poor parents, must be beside themselves, with what they have done...

i do hope it works out for the wee ''Mite'' ....,

but once again, so so sad...

Could be when the mother sobers up she will not be able to remember where she left the child, can not go to the police as they will ask too many questions as to her immigration status...

Anyway the child is probably a lot better off now.

Get her on those sugary drinks. The younger the better.

Why have a go at the rescue worker trying to do the right thing, is Lactasoy a sugary drink?

Sad sad to see these Things - hope police (not gonna hold my breath tho ...) find the childs parents and charge them ...

Why?? why not just hope that a good home with caring family will be found to care for this baby??

Lactasoy is a bit similar to a so called "milkdrip"; a tasteless liquid substance used in hospitals as liquid food.
