Mornin'.....

I read here from some older posts that a certain Dr Rat is good to see if you need ENT specialist in CM.... so I went along and saw him at his private clinic and he certainly speaks great English being American educated and he 'talks the talk' when it comes to noses.

I need an op to remove infected tissue in the tip of my nose that is the result of a previous Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty via the British NHS that unfortunately had bad luck with a permanent stitch which got infected.

Dr Rat has offered to do the surgery next week, but once bitten twice shy, so I'd like to find out as much as possible about his experience as a surgeon before I allow anyone to revisit the inside of my nose.

Weirdly I can't find anything about him online, but maybe 'Rat' is short for some great long unpronounceable name...??? and I was expecting to be able to go to the SriPhat hospital's website and find a list of all the practising surgeons and a CV about each, however, there's no such information....?

So... wondering if anyone else here has any info about Dr Rat or knows where I could go to read up on him...?

If I can't satisfy myself about his quality of workmanship by researching online then I'll have to go ask him for a CV in person.

Dr. Rat is my doctor too. I don't know his full name either. You definitely won't find any of his publications or anything about him using only his nickname.biggrin.png

You could ask at CMU.

Interesting--this Surgeon/Doctor is someone recommended for ENT issues??

I must admit that I have never heard of him so far--been to Rajavej and saw a very young, possibly inexperienced lady Doctor--and, I too, would be wary allowing 'just anybody' to drill/cut/remove stuff inside my nasal cavities--but, this seems to be necessary.

I, too, would be very grateful for info about the good Dr. rat--or any other highly respected ENT surgeons here.

Thanks.

Thanks.... was hoping you would chime in... it was a recommendation of yours that led me to see him.

So you think this is a nickname...?... I did wonder how come he has such a short name when all the other Thai's have such long ones... lol.

I tried calling the Sripat ENT clinic today to ask how his name is spelled.... but of course those who answer the phone only speak very basic english.............. so I rang his private clinic and I'm going back in to see him on Monday to ask questions and hopefully get his CV.

I'd like to know how long he's been a surgeon and if I can see some photographic evidence of his work such as before/after shots........ and I'll ask him how to spell his name fully so people can research him if they want to consider using him for surgery.

I must say I was impressed with the fact that he immediately advised that he plans to fill the space left after removing infected tissue from my nose with fat harvested from my stomach........ to me this is a far better solution than using synthetic dermal fillers which is what the NHS wanted to do.

Anyway..... watch this space and I'll report back after seeing him again.

Just discovered his name is Dr Rak Thananuwat......... however..... that doesn't help me as searching for that spelling online brings up zero........ and even searching within the medical centre's website brings up zero.

He doesn't exist ......... rolleyes.gif
