Is western style Deep Tissue massage available in CM?

Featured Replies

Are there any deep tissue massage or remedial massage therapists in CM?

I'm looking for a professional therapist who understands human anatomy to help me with a back problem I have

Ive tried physio at the hospitals and I've tried some Thai massage but its just not working for me...

My husband goes to an amazing lady a couple of times a week at Chiang Mai Gate for deep tissue massage. She works out of her centre in the pink apartment building just past Smith's Residence on Nantaram Road. Definitely worth a try, or at least go along and talk to her. I don't have her phone number in my phone, but I'll send you a PM with it later as it can be difficult to get in to see her.

She doesn't do nice gentle relaxing massages.

Are you talking western style sports injury type deep tissue? Completely different to going 60 minutes with a useless heavyweight thai masseuse.

Are you familiar with the term Rolfing.? Google it if not. It’s in a different class to Thai Massage.

It’s no secret on TV that I employ a lot of therapists. I have a therapist who really should be overseas earning big bucks but tends to get the sports injury clients, the accident victim clients, the back and neck ache clients and those who like strong to near tears Thai massage. I personally can vouch for this therapists skills above and beyond the other thirty odd we employ.

PM me with your specific problem and I will give it a coat of looking at.

google Michael Tan, Chiang Mai... he might be what you need. He has been here a long time and has an excellent reputation. A bit pricier than

regular thai massage, but some say, you get what you pay for.

I'm not willing to pay the high prices some of these people are asking...

No good - the phone number isn't working.

thanks for the info guys but does anyone else know a good muscle masseur?

There is a blind massage place in the old city. It is on the road that turns into La Khro on the out side of the moat. Coming from the moat it is on the left hand side of the road. I believe you will go thru a stop light just before you get to it. I can not speak for their ability but I asked for a medium one and he went deep. I don't have any problems I just wanted to try them out. The next time I went in I asked for a gentle one.

Good Luck with who ever you find.

I just remembered a Thai massage teacher/ therapist who has some western training who I had an excellent Thai massage from a couple of years ago, needless to say I've made an appointment!

She works in the old city on Rachapakhinai

I've gone through rolfing. Doesn't compare.

However you do it, it's gonna be hit or miss. Personally I've found that many of the older women 50+ have very good technique, although it helps to be as specific as possible about the muscle groups that you wish to have worked on and the level of pressure. And I suggestion oil massage, as they will be more in line with Western massage technique. If you are patient and are willing to try 10 or so different women (or men) who provide massage, you may eventually find one you really like and one you use as a backup.

Khun Ling, physical therapist, 089 4291955, on the road going to the Air Force base, 2 doors down from Kasem. Opens 4 PM until 7:30 /8:00. 400B /hour

It took 3 months of 3 x's a week, but he finally broke up the hip spasms and literally put me on my feet again. Not comfortable and the cost mounted up, but sure beats the pain and inability to walk!

I agree Rolfing is very good, if there's a rolfer in town then I'd be interested to know about it

Also you are correct about an oil massage being the best way to go, but finding someone who knows their muscles and anatomy may take a long time...

I spent about 5 years training in various types of massage but unfortunately I'm not flexible enough to massage myself!
