Pick up package at customs CM airport--Location?

Featured Replies

I was expecting a package with Amazon items shipped US Priority Mail

by a mail forwarding company. Instead, at my P.O.Box, I got a letter

telling me to pick up the package at Customs at CM Airport. At least

that's what the clerk told me (letter written in Thai).

Found some information here after doing a search but want to confirm

location because the post is several years old.

Is that location still correct?

Thanks

I had a mighty fun time last week when this happened to me, it was quite an experience. Normally with customs here, they simply have you pick it up at the post office and pay a small fee. This time, they had customs agents come in, open my box, ask me what is inside, and it was quite 'threatening' in the manner it was done. My order had mostly foods, but it also had Vitamin D3 and a vitamin B complex which are apparently not allowed to be imported, so the shipment had to be sent back to the shop, but I was not 'punished'.

Drive past the 'international' terminal as you are in the airport, and its at the end. Thai Cargo, can't miss it, just drive further than the boarding gates. The next time I get another package sent there, however, I am going to let it sit there and get returned to sender...

Thanks, Cheesekraft, for the location confirmation. In the 3.5 years I've been here, I've had many packages sent from USA to my post office box by Priority Mail and this is the first time I had to go to customs to get the box. Only one time was my package taxed but I paid the fee at the post office. In the shipment are several packages of plastic pellets which may look suspicious. Should be an interesting experience although wish I could have avoided it.

Yes, that's where it is. Be prepared to pay and/or forfeit your package.

Not labeling the contents is a huge mistake, and they will make everyone open it in front of them. When she quotes you a pretty hefty fee and tells you she is trying to help you...she is, it can get a lot worse from there, and Customs is separate from the Excise Department (out at 700 government office complex).....and items falling under Excise jurisdiction will require a permit before you even order.

Bangmai, all the contents of the package were declared so my guess is that some items seemed suspicious. Maybe the small plastic pellets looked like pills. Am prepared to open the package, explain the contents and pay.

Thai Post is getting very picky. I had another problem several months ago. The tablet I mailed EMS back to China for repair got as far as Bangkok but was then returned to me because the item had an built-in battery. So, no more Chinese electronics for me.

It is a good event to take your Thai GF too, it seems to soothe things a little. Let us know. A number of cigar smokers like to keep up with the amount of torture dished out....Oh, and they will remember you. Best of luck!
