So in your opinion, people should not express their opinions?

According to latest survey most do not even live in Thailand yet somehow seem to know all about Thailand.

In my opinion, when i do not like reading something , i stop, i certainly do not open YET another thread with the same rubbish but a different tone.

And considering its 3am in the morning in Thailand, i pretty much rest my case, oh before you make another observation, i am at work IN THAILAND, whats your and OP's excuse?

oh so your speculations about him being an addict were merely an opinion? i wanst aware of that.

in fact, in thailand such accusations are considered defamation but a long time resident like yourself would know that.

As for you case i wasnt aware you had made one other than the fact you work in thailand - aren't you special. some of us live here full time without that indignity.

Put in your reading glasses. Addicts is a forum . Good to see your full of knowledge.

Yes you live here full time and do very little to encounter even less.

The special ones like myself get to see and experience little more than a trip to a local bar or a market

your assumptions are ludicrous. you are simply not worth my time.

And i apologize for my ignorance regarding addicts, it would seem one miserable forum and its inhabitants are more than adequate to my needs.

I never said that it comes mostly from younger posters -- I said that the persons whom I encounter and who have replied to me directly with such sentiments over the years have mostly, if not exclusively, been younger affluent posters.

Younger perhaps, but what makes you think that they're affluent?

It's because many of the posts ask some of the most stupid questions or they want TV members to do all their research for them while they sit in some bar sucking on piss somewhere ....

You don't move to Thailand if you're happy back home.

Speak for yourself. Some of us came here because we wanted to live here, not to get away from where ever we were before.

I agree with you SB, but in my case, it was 75% to get out of the UK, and 25% to come to Thailand.

As I always say, the positives out weigh the negatives here.

I'm up late- the wonderful thing about not having to work anymore-is I can get up late in the morning.. The BF is just off to play volleyball down on the beach at Jomtien- we don't quite subscribe to normality.

I live here- so no excuse.

This thread is not the same rubbish- all I'm saying is Thai Visa has lost the plot- it has changed from a supportive web site - to one where people constantly run down this country, it's people, it's women, men, police- etc etc.

It just seems that forums such as this bring out negativity. It's not a way to live your life.

You mean to say you barfined a girl to let her go and play volleyball????

Yes very busy life schedule.

So you learned all there is to know about other forum in under 10 mins? Pretty much paints clear picture of your "positive" outlook or understanding of what is around

The negativity on ThaiVisa doesn't bother me at all. As one will aways have to deal with negativity somewhere somehow, I prefer to deal with it here rather than having to deal with the negativity routinely encountered on here face-to face.

Also, as from my unofficial assessment, almost all the negativity I personally encounter on here comes from those of the British or Australian persuasion, I then don't have to bother being so on my guard every time I encounter in person a funny accent.

I'm being perfectly serious here when I say I agree with the part about nationalities. And I'm not trying to score points when I also say that much of it has to do with Americans lacking humor nor understanding British/Australian humor.

I think it has more to do with grumpy Brits mistaking dreary predictable cynicism for humour.

That's mostly the ones from Yorkshire.

I'm sure everyone from time to time posts negatively on here. What's wrong with posters sharing their views? I thought that was what this is all about. Having a rant shouldn't be looked down upon...laughed at..yes but, it shouldn't be censored or condemned. It's what makes this entertaining. It also seems poppa bear allows some to go above and beyond the "rules"

Good post, if there was no negativity, TV would be losing a lot of posters, as it would just get boring.

The poster did say he does not subscribe to normality. I can see what he means.

Time is a great teacher.

The OP will understand once his saffron tinted glasses have dropped off (or have been stolen).

Why presume that just because you don't like it here, nobody else will either?

On what basis do you claim I don't like it in Thailand?

My views on Thailand, Thai people, and aspects of life in Thailand are well documented in my posts here on TVF. They are neither overly negative nor overly positive.

So again:

On what basis do you claim I don't like it in Thailand?

Put up or shut up.

The posts are not getting more negative but more realistic.

Often times they reflect the observations of long term-residents, that have experienced Thailand "as it is" and have taken off their "rose colored glasses" a while ago. As opposed to Tourists, that tend to wear their rose colored glasses 24 hours a day.

And not to forget: The Thailand of 1996 versus the Thailand of 2015 can not be compared.

Cheers.

Not everyone came here with rose-tinted glasses on. Some people have the sense to learn a little about a place before they up sticks and move there.

I never said that it comes mostly from younger posters -- I said that the persons whom I encounter and who have replied to me directly with such sentiments over the years have mostly, if not exclusively, been younger affluent posters.

Younger perhaps, but what makes you think that they're affluent?

They say so.

We have to understand our cousins from across the sea. It is a cultural difference. What appeals to us on the top and them on the bottom.

Some of the younger ones who like to claim that some or most of the older ones have to travel half-way around the world for sex or pay some poor Thai girl to pretend to like them ... or the ones who have to be up by 3 PM when the Merc opens to trade their palladium account.

As I said, almost all the negativity I personally encounter on here comes from the Brits or Aussies. That doesn't mean that ALL the Brits or Aussies are negative -- just that the nastiest of posters on ThaiVisa tend to be so.

It's the boyfriend- not the bar fine!

There are two places they play volleyball on the beach, and the games go on all night. Often it's the guys working in bars , hotels or restaurants who go down there after work .

No idea what you're talking about now I'm afraid.

Only on Thaivisa would 'BF' be interpreted that way.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but hotel shifts do not finish at 3am, and not too many restaurants go to 3am, not to mention after 10 hour day, i am having trouble believing someone would want to go play volleyball in the dark at 3 am, knowing he has to go to work the next day

May be this is the reason why everything is rosy in your world. you do not see or may be do not want to see the truth

You do realise that after you stagger home from the bar/restaurant/wherever when it closes, some mere mortals have to stay behind and clean up and prepare for the next day, right?

you do realize hotels are open 24 hours? or restaurants have cleaners? or may be you do not realize after 10-12 hours shift people are usually tired to go play volleyball, or may be you do not realize at 3am, there is no sun, it is dark and almost impossible to see the ball or may be you do not realize hookers do not clean up bars

People in the hospitality trade have fun after work just like everyone else.

Yes, play volleyball in the dark at 3 amgigglem.gif

Just like everyone else, plays volleyball in the dark at 3am.

I am assuming you also play volleyball at 3 am in the dark after 10 hour shift?whistling.gif
